Woah! Did I do damage at Laguna Seca?
Check these out. My valve lash is WAY out of spec after the Laguna Seca event last weekend. Constant high rpm revving with valvetrain, and crower 3 cam, it seems like the little tappet things mushroomed and deformed! Am I right, or do they look normal?
I did a valve adjustment today anyway. Some of the exhaust lash were at about .050! I set em to .005 for now, I am still unsure if they are actually deformed.

Why do you say bent valves? If your looking at the #2 cylinder valves being down a bit that is probably because of the position of the cam in it's rotation at the time the pic was taken????
Hard to tell with the oil drops on them, but they look OK. In that first pic the #2 exhaust valve tappet on cylinder #1 looks out of whack but that could just be the lighting and the angle. If they are that far out of spec there is something that has moved. Spring, valve seat, valve lock seating??? Is this the first time you have run them hard? maybe your valve train just finally settled. If your worried about them it will probably only set you back #50-#70 to replace them all.

this was going to be my suggestion. a simple compression test will tell you if you have bent valves if that is your concern

I take it you don't have the cam installed in those pics? If not, why does the #2 cylinder ex. valve appear to be sitting lower? If the cam is removed and the valves are still sitting lower on #2--chances are they are not returning to the seat which would indicated they probably tapped and bent a little, so now they are stuck in the guide.
The cam is in there. The only thing removed from this motor in these photos is the valve cover. There are NO bent valves. #2 is sitting lower because the are resting on the cam lobe.
All I'm unsure about is the tappets, whether they look damaged or their fine.

i'd say wick up the oil on them and take another picture. it's difficult to tell from that photo

Far left tappet = deformed
Right tappet = ok-ish.

Thats what I was looking at also the far left tappet looks deformed.......How does something like that happen heat? hirev mishifts? valve lash not set correctly?can anyone fill me in kinda interested

Yes Id say those tappets are definately shot.
I would replace all of them.
Just like you assumed. High rpm and stiff springs caused that. How high are you spinning it? Maybe a hair tighter on the lash or heat treating the new tappets would help...

On that second pic.It looks like there might be a hairline crack on the rocker. The one with "2" cast it. Do you see it or is it just the picture?
