There are multiple processes to make molds. It depends on the part, how complex it is, and other factors which determine which is the best way to make it.

To type how to make a mold is, in my opinion, just beyond the scope of a forum posting. You need to view some writeups, google it, and buy some various books.

Check here...this is a good starting point. There are writeups on basic molds in here that is posted through the user CRX12 on here.

depends on the quality of the part you want to produce, the way iv always done it is by using whats called a plug, its basicly a replica of the part you want to make as a finished product,
also depending on the quality of a part you want, you may want to vacume bag the part into the mold, which means you are going to need whats called a flange, its a part of the mold that is sorrounds the plug that the vacume bag can be applied to.
after you have a plug made you have to put a release surface on it the cheapest way and also very affectve is to use mold release wax (prob find it somewhear online ) and apply multiply several even coats on the plug and wipe clean between coats.
after you have the release surface i like to use a gel-coat that you can spray on with a special spray nozel or it can be brushed on, this makes for a better mold surface when you pull it off the plug and can be sanded to a better finish if you want.
after the gel-coat cures you can then start to lay fiber-glass down (or carbon fiber if you want a real solid mold) in layers untill you get a good thickness built up, make sure you use a bubble popper to roll the fiber-glass free of air voids, make sure to lay the glass all the way to the the end of the flange.
after the resin cures you can pull the mold of the plug, i use wooden wedges and pound them between the flanges of the mold and the plug, pull it off and trim the flange and ur done. good luck.
i found these pics, you can see what im talking about by a bagging flange on the perimiter of the molod
