Default fzr: cool or not cool?

What is your take on the Yamaha FZR (not yzf)? It's not quite a supersport but looks pretty good on paper, and theyre cheap. Good to start out on?

Maybe you should be less concerned about looking cool and more concerned about learning how to ride?

you would start off fine with a FZR 600.

Just make sure you take the MSF and take things slow in the beginning.

I started on a 90' FZR 600. They are heavy and hopefully you are around 5'9 or taller so you can plant your feet on the ground and be a little more comfortable in the beginning.

After you get the basics, it becomes easier and overall I think its a good bike to start on because its cheaper than a newer ninja 250/500.

Also, remove the fairings if you want because you will drop it. Probably not at moving speeds, but it will happen.

That bike doesn't look so cool but probably a decent bike to start with.

My first bike was a '87 FZ600

Anything on 2 wheels is cool. Anyone that tells you otherwise is a ******.

Was it the 91-92 yzf with the single headlight or the fzr? I couldn't find one when I was looking, I should have just bought a fzr any year

First bike I ever rode it was solid R6 tail end conversions are popular on these as well if you're going for looks once you learn how to ride.

The 1991-1992 bikes are FRZ's as well. It's just a different fairing and headlight. YZF600's didn't come until 1995.

They all look the same pretty much from 86-98 I think. I had a 98 FZR for my first bike. It wasn't the hottest **** on the road but it was quite respectable. I liked it at the time, I actually loved it at the time. Now I'm happy I got rid of it and upgraded. I had a D&D on mine and I got nothing but compliments on how it sounded everywhere I went.

I dunno, I know my friend had a 1989 FZR400 with a 600cc in it and it looked very similar to mine. I'll try to find pics
