Default 'Official' Poormans R Setups

Seems to be more than enough info on Ls/Vtec B20/Vtec, etc. etc. but haven't seen this setup thread started. Just wanted to see the usual of what you guys built or are building and any power numbers from this setup....mine is the following (being built this winter on a low budget)

JDM SI Head
USDM GSR Block
Chipped p28
PCT pistons (stock bore)
OEM bearings set
ARP 9mm rod bolts
ARP Headstuds
Skunk2 Tuner 2's (Springs and retainers also)
Skunk2 Intake Manifold
Skunk 2 TB
AEM V2 Cold Air
MB Racing's new TDM Race Header (4-2-1)

*hoping to make 200whp on a solid tune, low budget, can't wait to see what happens

Yeap, it definitely seems so.

My crappymans set-up consists of the following

RS machine ITR pistons
hastings rings
GSR block
GSR crank
GSR bearings
GSR timing belt
honda oil pump
honda water pump
honda head gasket
honda rear main seal
ARP rod bolts (re-sized)
ARP head bolts
P30 mainfold
99 si head (stock)
Blox A's camshaft
4-2-1 header
3" exhaust
3" OD intake
blah,blah...

Basically, I had a JDM b16a and replaced the block with a re-built GSR block.

I have not tuned it yet but maybe before Xmas, I'll visit my friends at Mcnews.

Yeah..., and exactly what is that going to do for you?
If you have the pistons sell them, if you don't find something else to use. This is not the first time this has been covered. WHY do you want to run CTR pistins?

cause there bad pistons and have a horrible flame travel and not to mention they have a huge dome which will interfere with ur valves etc. etc. if u didnt put them in yet then sell them and get some p30's. plus if ur gonna drive it on the street u dont want to be running a mixed fuel setup. it gets expensive.

i guess mar778c was close enough

Wordup. Gsr block w/CTR pistons, b16 head, slapped together budget setup that runs 93 octane pump daily. Goes around roadcourses for hpde and drags the 1320 in 12.1@114 mph in a 2100pd. streetcar.

Just another question. I did purchase the PCT's standard bore already, but your saying I should use the P30's, for what reason?

You can acheive good numbers on slightly lower compression if your combo is set up right.

i had pct's in a c5 bottom end with a pr3 head and had no issues with them at all on 93 octane, many people run them and hit 200+whp

although im sure the p30's are a better choice, the pct is not as bad you make it sound especially with e-85 nowadays

im not saying they are horrible...i love them..its just they run like crap before a tune. i mean they yielded me somewhere between 12-1 to 12-5 comp. which is kinda high especially for an untuned motor on street gas..(93 octane).

ARP Rod/Head Hardware

Endyn DHPS head (i hope if i get enough money)

Lol, you might be a little north of 200, like maybe 15 whp north. Here's the proviso, if those are SAE numbers and the dyno is operating within calibration.
