Which Body Civic (hatch) can have better handling? EG OR EK
I was wondering which Body Hatch can have better handling, I was thinking to my self EG, since it's lighter. but hey give me some info.
thanx in advance.

while chassis weight will have a lot to do, don't leave out the numerous variables of the actual suspension setup and chassis reinforcements. i think this question is too ambiguous. they can both be made to handle exceptionally with the right parts.

EG,
The cx model is the lightest, so it of course has the most potential on an equal budget for aftermarket parts. no question.
Handling is all about lightweightness when you are comparing cars with equal mods/specs/parts.
I would love to hear someone explain how a 2300 lb Ek can outhandle a 2000 lb EG if they both have the same parts bolted up...., like everything possible... here is my dream setup-
ITR swap with Toda ITB's, Spoon header & catback, Buddyclub coilovers, Mugen upper bars, Spoon lower bars, 15" TE37 with AO32R, ITR brakes, Autopower rollbar, Sparco cf racing seats, Sabelt harnesses, simple weight reduction (cf hood, gutted interior).
-->With these mods done to each car there would still be the 300 lb weight difference.
--->Also there is so much done (aftermarket parts) to the cars that while they are each far superior to their beginnings as stock setups, I believe the EG would "handle better"... dont you?

correct if necessary but i believe they both have the same suspension design.

I even actually like the DC2 platform better than the EK (DC2 is a very close brother of the EG).
I look at it this way...if suspension parts wont swap, there is a difference. Doesnt mean that difference is better but different none the less.
The rear lca's are longer on EK's (I figure thats what made Todd00 say they have more camber) But most of you guys run your rears so stiff that the camber is mostly static.
The front upper and lower arms are different. Never compared them for width or rake, but I am assuming they are different.
