Default Type R sway bar with mount kit on GSR

hmm well, I just found a deal (I think) for a Type R rear sway bar with a mount kit for a non type R. I think the mount kit was called BCg or BNG or something along those lines. Should I be worried at all about Tear outs? I am currently running H&R sport springs with KYB AGXes. The guy was saying hes only seen tear outs on cars with humongous rear sway bars and stock springs and shocks. any truth to this? thanks

Do you mean the BSQ kit? Everyone says that's the best kit to get, and I haven't heard of any subframe tear out with it. I have heard of people having tear out with the Skunk2 bar, which is only 19mm, so size isn't the only factor leading to tear out.

Yes Weston I was just about to correct that, it was the BSQ kit. I think I might just pick up this bar then, $100 for the kit and the bar, does that sound reasonable?

I have the ITR 23mm bar on my car with the BSQ mounting kit and it's been through 35+ autocrosses with no sign of tear out, and I drive my car hard.

FYI, you can purchase the Type-R rear swaybar, the necessary bushing, brackets, nut and bolts for ~$85 shipped from http://www.acuraautomotiveparts.net . You can purchase my BSQ Type-R rear swaybar mounting/reinforcement kit for $20 shipped. So you are looking at a total cost of ~$105.

Helpful information (links) on the Type-R rear swaybar:

Type-R rear swaybar installation instructions: http://www.geocities.com/bretq/swaybar_install.html

BSQ Type-R rear swaybar mounting/reinforcement kit: http://www.geocities.com/bretq/mounting_kit.html

Let me know if you have any questions...I will be glad to help you out.

Default have you guys just tried washers?

you know, to basically do the same as these kits...I think if you use the right washers that it would distribute the load pretty evenly anyway.

thanks

You'd need a lot of washers to get the bottom of the bracket spaced correctly away from the subframe. $20 sounds cheaper and easier to me.
