Is there a way to run the drls at all times?
So i was wondering if there was a way to run the day time running lights at all times. Yeah yeah i know "There for day time dummy!" But i was looking at my car and i would think it would look sick if i can make it so they run all the time without having the high beams on. Anyone with any info on that?
i've asked this and so has another member here. there IS a way, but you would need to cut and do all kinds of crazy **** with wiring.

Aren't DRLs high beams at 60% or so? They would still blind oncoming traffic.

the DRLs have 2 light output settings, right?
for day time they are just barely on, and highbeams for night
the setting your talking about (highbeams) WILL blind people at night, but if the DRLs were on at night it woulnt blind anybody. just go to your car at night and turn it on without the headlights, thats how itll look

they run at 80% its capacity helped by a relay. And because your high beams are aimed straight upwards, you will be blindinb oncoming traffic even during the day if they're really yellow. A clear example is the rx300 with yellow DRL's.
It all depends on the bulb, output and aiming for them.
You don't believe me? go grab a set of 2,500K yellow bulbs from ebay at 5 bucks and you'll notice what I mean. You really need to position yourself at a driver's eye level. If you stand in front of your car, of course it won't blind you hence your eye level is WAY above a single driver's eye level.
Some people truly need to stop posting on things they know nothing about
BTW, to help the OP's issue for the DRL's, add a resistor with a relay built into a harness. Now, plug those into your 9005 socket and you will get a constant 80% power running through the harness to fire up the bulb. Granted, it is recommended to use an auxiliary switch to engage the on-off for the decreased power current to flow from the relay to the resistor thus you'll have the DRL look.
Another way to do it is by buying those 9v relay's and making your own harness. That is also used for HID's when you have a car which tells you when a bulb has burnt(canceller capacitor).
Either way, the safest way is to run it separately. Your high beams will still be functional.
