2.5 or 3" exhaust?
logic would tell us, that a 3" will flow more than a 2.5", and if you had at least the IQ of an apple, you would also know a 3" is louder. What more do you want to know?

ehh its true to some extent. you do lose low end but you gain top end. nothing some gears cant fix. IMO, 2.5 is good enough for the streets, boosted or NA as long as your not going over 400whp.
well if u had any logic u would no that 3 also will most likely make u lose power but gain sound.. so maybe before you try to be a smart a$$ you should realize what your saying
well in general a 3" is too big for an S.... hence i said stock or mostly stock.... i can see where a modified & tuned S could benefit from a larger diameter exhaust.... that and if it gains 5 hp from 8-9k but looses 10hp everywhere else then i dont really count that as a gain.....

Actually the best compromise for an NA s2000 would be a 70mm exhaust which is roughly 2.75 inches. And a 3 inch exhaust on an NA s2000 will do just fine. You won't loose power, it's not a b-series motor.

haha.
the back pressure thing, too much or too little, is a myth. back pressure at all is bad. flow is good. your exhaust acts as a pressure system, lower pressure at the end which will allow for the exhaust to literally be sucked out of the pipe. when you get into larger diameter piping you will increase the low pressure system (thus decreasing the vacume effect) and will inhibit flow. too small a pipe will not allow for enough exhaust to be removed fast enough.... S2ks are 2.5l engines? 2.25 would do just fine.

its called scavaging...
now if you dont already know look up the flow #'s of a F20/22 head and you will see why a 2.75-3" exhaust os ok on these motors
