Default P30 pistons in GSR

Any rules of thumb out there for P30 pistons in a GSR? Anything like retarding the distributor or adding more fuel and stuff like that?
Will be putting a motor together soon and would just like to know...
Thanks in advance.

Just the basic stuff. Skunk2 manifold and 68mm TB, Toda Spec A2 cams, Supertech valvesprings & retainers, and then the P30's with a milled head. Will be getting a header sometime down the road.

yeah you're going to need a tune with those cams. and get some cam gears.

Anything else out there guys?
How 'bout octane booster, necessary since will be bumping up compression?

Your asking a lot of questions that can be answered with a little searching on your part.

Same plug you always run 1 step colder

What is your gas octane level in your area? Either way booster is a band-aid fix, tuning is key.

My suggestion to you is to buy a Innovate wide-band, build a DET-Can and teach yourself how to street tune. Tune your friends cars, make some money and buy a dyno.... If there isn't one and racing is popular it will pay for itself/

If you do not understand what I am talking about please take some time and read, search.

Well to add to this, I have a question that I cant find an answer for, and I didnt want to make a whole new thread. I have a b18a1 on the way to me, bored .10 over, and its currently sporting the gsr pistons on the stock rods. I was wanting to get more compression out of it, and was wondering if p30 pistons would fit on the stock rods? Or if id have to modify them or anything else to make them fit. TIA.

Motor rebuilt with the P30 pistons. Feels weak, checked plugs (BKR6) to find that they are white. Lean? Ignition timing set at 0. Only CEL flashing is code 67 because of my popped cat.
Any ideas?

You should be running a BKR7 one step colder than stock GSR, used in Type R's. What ecu(tune) are you using?

Ok, I'll pick up the BKR7's in the morning. Could that be it though?
Still using the stock GSR box. Later the best I could do as for a tune is match a chipped P28 to my parts and specs.

Stock ecu w/ modded car = lean conditions. You should have gotten at the very least a type r ecu since your using a S2 IM and larger TB, also your CR is much higher than stock so why would you use a stock GSR ECU made for 10:1 CR and secondary butterflies?

Actually the only changes on the car right now are the P30's. The manifold, tb, and Toda A2's are still here sitting here in my room. Wanted to see how well it ran with just the piston upgrade. Bad move?
Could the BKR7's still help? NAPA just opened 30 mins ago. Gonna go and grab a set right now.

It'll help to run a colder plug, you may want to retart the timing a degree if your motor's pinging. What octane do you have available there?

Ok why are the spark plug gaps between the GSR (.052) and Type R (.044) different? Which one should I follow since using P30's or does it matter?

Could I stoich out my leaning problem with a VAFC?
Changed out to colder plugs and still running lean. Is the ecu the only one to blame for this now? Could it be the small stuff like the fuel filter or something?

prob feels weak bc you have timing at 0...

you can only add so much with a vafc...and youd need a wideband to know where to add
