What is an Intake Cam, and what does it do???
I have a 2000 Civic si, and I just found out that it has a CTR intake cam. I know what cams are but is a Intake cam different? What does it do? How does it work?
Does the CTR cam increase power over the stock b16 intake cam?
Thanks.

An intake cam is just as it sounds -- a camshaft that controls the intake valve.
DOHC motors have one cam for the intake valves and one cam for the exhaust valves. In a SOHC system, the cam controls both sets of valves.
This is the sought-after advantage with DOHC over SOHC. The intake and exhaust can be tuned separately.
As for a CTR being better, yes, it does have a more aggressive profile and nets some gains (not much) over the stock cams. It is a rather popular setup for budget turbo projects, putting either the CTR/ITR intake cam into a B16/B18C motor.
