Anyone go to the NOPI event this weekend ??
Anyone else go to the NOPI/NDRA event this weekend ??? What did you think ?
I thought the race was well organized, but im not sure I liked the commerciality of the event . Although it does bring in the $$ and the sponsors , so i guess overall it was cool .

I thought the race sucked. It wasnt a race, it was a show event. I dont like the whole glitter glame thing they tried to make of it. Also from what I heard from one of my sponsors who had a booth their, they race it really poor for them and it took forever for them to get in and setup. I will stick to IDRC as my fav. event host.

I guess that is still my response. I actually raced in the event and thought it was well run. They did not keep us in the staging lanes a long time once they called us to the lanes, which is a good thing . Its not very fun to sit in a car when is 95 degrees outsides . Also as to the commerciallity or "glitz and glam" of this event you have to understand this is what keeps our sport going . I know "newbies" may be annoying but we all at one time or another were new to the scene. For our sport to survive there has to be people at the events, and if thats how we can get them there its fine with me .

Jojo was there but not racing. He told me that NOPI had screwed him over on the last two events and decided to pull out in protest.
Lieberman stated in the news release that it may have been due to some controversial traction system or sponsor problems. Of course he wouldn't want to say what you just said publicly.

Yeah, jojo didnt compete because of a sponsor problem. I am choosing not to state the problem, but it was chicken crap of NOPI.

mike are you trying to earn bonus points...j/k[Modified by BoostinDC2, 7:55 AM 6/27/2002]
Haha Jerry, bonus points always help but I feel I already get them as it is. But really, everyone at IDRC is super nice. The NHRA and Battle guys both gave me a hard time at their races and I do feel IDRC is the most organized. I like the fact that at an IDRC event I can go to one of the guys working their for help, not like NHRA where they dont like to be bothered.
