Default Painting on Carbon Fiber products

I have a faded carbon fiber hood, unknown brand. The edges around it are painted white currently by the previous owner. I'm looking to repaint the whole hood Premium Pearl White to match the paint of my prelude. Do any shops paint over carbon fiber? I brought it to a shop, and they said they've never painted it. Is the process the same to paint any other OEM hood? If so, i'll tell him to just do the regular process of painting the carbon fiber hood the same as he would do the same for a metal one.

ThankS!

Inform them CF is similar to fiberglass. Its very easy to paint. If they know what they are doing it should be no prob.

BASF makes paint for carbon fiber products, where u still see the carbon fiber through the paint. Its pretty bad ***. And i didn't know there was a special way to paint fiberglass. Thats a new one for me.

Any clear base, or color can be tinted to a have a transparent type effect as long as a clear base is available in the paint system. I wouldn't consider fiberglass "special", its pretty common material. Sounds like this shop just doesn't do a wide range of work.

Is painting fiberglass the same as painting metal?

If i were to break it down step by step for them, what would I have to tell them?

If you have to break it down step by step find a new shop. But for your own personal information, sand it, prime, basecoat, clear coat, it isn't rocket science. Hope it comes out well.

If he knows how to paint any normal car then tell him not to change a thing.
