looks like we have a bright future ahead of us as far hondas go. Japan is finally starting to take America seriously as a market for their high performance tuner cars.

Ya ur probably right, thats what they were saying on 8th. But still, just the fact that Honda is even considering bringing it here is cool. Saying as we've been waiting for one for a long time and people are always saying they wish it were here.

i hope this thread doesn't turn into a "hate on mugen" thread!!!!!
its exciting that honda brought a mugen car over and is even considering bring a type r back to the states.

But I'm wondering if the R will even look the same as it currently does by 2010.

Same here. Gotta be a next Gen car, 2011.

if it is a mass production car it wont be 30k like the crap mugen si is.... the only reason its so expensive is because they are making so few of it compared to any other model. Which also makes it a hazard to own. If they type R turns out anything like the teg R then i would love one. 2010 is about the time I plan to pickup another new vehicle and put ~10,000 down.

you're right, it probably will look different, but that doesn't matter. I think whats important is the fact they are even bringing the ctr over here, and they consider the U.S. worth their time and money to export it. It shows that Honda, and Japan in general, are actually starting to consider the U.S. as a serious market for their performance cars. They're starting to see that we care about more than just huge engines crammed in small cars that can only go fast in a straight line. After all I think its pretty cool they can get 220+ hp out of a N/A 2.0 four; I've never seen an American company do that. Those are just my thoughts, I'm pretty excited to see this kind of stuff happening.
Honestly I would spend 30K on an authentic Japanese Type R.....as long as they kept it the same as they have it now from Japan. But that is HIGHLY unlikely.
With 220HP, better handling than the Mugen, and better looks, it seems a little more justified to dish out the dough for the Type R since it is geared towards a higher level of performance than the Mugen is.

I agree and didn't say because the styling or looks might be different that it takes away from the fact that Honda might be bringing a R to the states.
I am kind of wondering if it would have the CSX or JDM style front end or if it would be a USDM body style with R goodies?

Well I e mailed road and track magazine because they are usually really good about getting inside info like this. This is the response I got:
Hi Evan,
I believe we got the car in question as the Mugen Civic Si instead of the Type-R. No power increase though.

If we do see a Type-R in 2010, it'll be time for an all new Civic, not just an update to the current platform.

Idk, I think we'll get one, but it will look different.
