I'd say they're a bad idea for daily use...

Not super good for daily use. Think about it:

During daily use, it will get dirty, subjected to harsh weather, and pummeled with rocks from the road. After a bit of that, you won't have a clear hood anymore.

That, and a good hood will need to be well reinforced, meaning having a skeleton supporting it. Clear hoods require that there is very little/no reinforcement so people can see through them well. Safety standards of your state may also restrict this part to only be applied in off-road applications. Also think about if you have a clean enough engine bay to even want to show off.

This causes another problem, as thieves who wonder what's under your hood need only look to see what to get, and just schedule a time to come by and take it.

Notice how I'm not voicing my personal opinion, as my philosophy is that it should hold no relevance to the cosmetic upgrades you put on your car. However, these are not practical, as they are show hoods, meant for cars that are standing still at shows, and safety is a little vague.

Recap-
-Not reinforced well
-Hard to maintain clarity of finish
-The wrong people can see what you have under the hood
-May not meet safety standards of state, something to look into
-You might have a dirty *** engine bay, not even worth showing off

I seen people use them at couple car shows personally for that purpose i think its not a bad idea because people still are able to see your work but it will keep them from touching or stealing anything like the oil caps and stuff like that which happened to my friend alot lol but to have it on for DD

unless if u actualy have a really clean, and good lookin motor that you're not ganna DD, then it might be worth it, but even i still wouldnt buy one... its a little too much rice for me.

i'd say get a CF hood or something if u want to be different...

According to most in this thread, the clear hood would be rice.

And what is with this common urge to do somethign JUST because it's different?

lol

Trust me, I don't think my car looks like anyone else's on here. Mine also isn't ugly though.

I also wouldn't sacrifice my car looking good or running well just so it's different.
