Default Power to Manual Window Conversion

What parts do I need besides new door panels and the crank for a power to manual window conversion in my EM1?

No, my windows work fine, I would just prefer to have manual windows. If I ever decide that I want the power windows back I will always have the stuff laying around in my garage.

I'm just curious to why you prefer manual to power.

what???
tell me that rolling down all your windows simultaneously and blasting your krunk rap at a stoplight towards some ******* on a cell phone who just cut you off is not the best thing ever.

There's no lying about that.

You do understand that power windows are the ones where you push the button, and manual are the ones where you continuously spin that **** up or down, right?

Yes, I know that the manual windows are the ones with the crank. <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by Neptronix &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">

I don't really listen to rap. But that is a pretty good reason to stay power.

Found this thread, cause I wanted to ask the same thing.

Manual windows are simple and cheap to fix.

I've been dealing with problems with my power windows. I'd rather crank the window than have to deal with wiring, switches and a motor.

hmm.. mine are becoming an issue as well.. IE.. they roll up super slow unless i'm moving. with the engine not turned on, it's even worse.

my '94 del sol windows outperform my '99 civic ex... and the del sol has been beat to **** and never taken care of..

If you're referring to the slow roll up and roll down of power windows, the same happens to the manual ones.

They take the same tracks (which end up needing to be lubed on either type), but take different regulators (which are both pretty close to the same).

If you have power or manual windows and they become difficult to move, I'd suggest stop rolling them up at least until you get some silicone spray, and possibly until you can fix them (if there is a problem).

Neither is more prone to the issues. The power windows just might burn the motors out if you let it go too long. I had the same issue though and mine popped out of he track before the motor burnt out.

My power windows just don't work well. They often get stuck, so I'd like to just have a manual regulator. I know they won't go up and down fast, but they will at least go up and down.

I've sprayed the track, but it doesn't seem to help.

I checked with NAPA and they only have a power window regulator for the 92 civic. <U> Are there other years' manual window regulators that work with my car?</U>

It sounds like all you need is your windows repaired. Power or manual repairs, either way they will work better (at least at first). You've just decided to do the more complicated and expensive repair, that's all.

They both have the same reliability.

Only if you wait too long and force your windows for too much on a power window, the motor might burn out. On the manual windows, perhaps you might wear a gear out more than it already was. By that time on either window, you should have given it a rest until repairs though.
