I'm currently using a cometic gasket (84mm, non-turbo) + hylomar (race formula/aerosol) on my boosted GSR.

I will never use a cometic hg again without it.

When I purchased my most recent cometic gasket I was told the turbo version was discontinued.

The only time I run a cometic is if it is an extremely large bore or the head/deck has been milled. I use OEM on all of the 600+whp set-ups that I do and they work great.

Id Like To know What everyones problem with the cometic is...everyone says not to use one..but not why. Ive been on the same cometic hp for 2 years...no blown head gaskets, no issues whatsoever...So From me Cometic HP's Which from what ive been told are discontinued, get a+. BTW this is a 700hp motor that has been through 3 different turbos...all the way from 520hp on a 60-1 up to its current setup on a gt40r

Ive had no problems. and the cometic wasnt that much more than a stock...Plus i like the ring. I mean we could ask a lot of why question, why step deck? why o-ring? why use a copper headgasket like ive seen some people do? I asked why people had problems with the cometics, and no one has come up with an answer besides "people have had problems". And i stated that My 700hp motor has been together for 2 years with a cometic headgasket, and no problems. So instead of bash a product, why dont you guys give real advice. Get back on the OP's topic.

But what about people who want to run .5mm bore over?? I doubt oem hg can accomodate that.

I am currently running a cometic on my 83mm with 400+whp and no problems yet. It was annoying trying to get it over the dowel pins though, I wish they would make those a tad larger.

^^^Click. It's not an "offical" review so guys don't get your panties in a bunch trying to pick it apart. With that said, I still believe whole-heartedly that cometic gaskets are not up to par.

OEM
GE
Cometic

I never knew they made a turbo version Headgasket...you sure its not the HP version with the thicker ring around the sleeves (not the Fuzion). The Cometic HP gaskets aren't made to be used with aftermarket sleeves.

I use nothing but Cometic Headgaskets with 40+PSI and over 800WHP and no problems! There are lots of variable that lead to headgasket failures like warped head, warped block, sleeve sank, bad tune, ETC. Most people assume its the gasket.

We only use Cometics HGs on our racecar. Nothing bad to say about them.
