Default CTR Trans Vs. ITR Trans

I have a GSR and my trans is on it's way out. I want to buy an ITR trans and there's someone selling a CTR trans.

Anyone help me with the differences between the two in terms of ratio and how it'll mount up to a B18. If I'm not mistaken CTR's have B16's, yes?

The ctr trans will be a better allmotor trans, expect about a 4500 4800 rpm at 50 mph... Not good on the gas mileage but great for going quick.

Any idea how much I should expect to pay for one? I've seen ITR LSD's go for 1300. Not having much luck finding one on the marketplace.

The CTR and ITR transmissions are the same in gearing, so this statement seems misleading to me.
Reference: ITR Gear Ratio
CTR & ITR Gear Ratios

OP: Len at Son's Acura can get you a brand new ITR transmission for around $1650:

The 98 spec has a 4.785 FD and shares the same 4th and 5th gear as the GSR. So you don't turn 4500 rpm's doing 65 on the HWY.

So I'm guessing the 00/01 trannys have a different 4th & 5th?

I know years ago I was planning on spending alot of $$ on gearing including the ATS 4.92 F/D. Then I got bit by boost. Looks like my USDM tranny will stay stock.

for what it's worth, I have a CTR tranny in my ITR. This is what I was told when I bought the car, and the code on the tranny matches what a CTR "should" have (then again, so does a standard B16 tranny) Mine DOES have the LSD also, so I assume it is legit. (short of tearing into it to count gear teeth)

anyway, when I go 75mph in 5th, I'm only at 4500 rpms.

If I'm not mistaken my ITR @ 80 MPH was spinning like 4K RPM's. Motor's been down for a while so I can't remember for sure.
If I were into the autocross thing I more than likely would have spent alot on gearing. I was always curious to know what my car would have run in the 1320 with an ATS 4.92 f/d. It's best times w/ just bolt-ons was like a 14.20 @ 98.6. Guess I'll never know.

Don't forget, the CTR differential is heavier than ITR.

Does the 5th gear of the ITR/CTR@0.848 really make that big a difference over the %th of the GSR@0.787?
