Default Paint Gun Question

I'm wondering if this kit will be good for a beginner?

http://www.harborfreight.com/c...94572

Or is this kit better?

http://www.eastwoodco.com/shop...15988

Do I need a seperate gun for primer, base, and clear?
What is that smaller "detail" gun used for?

I won't be painting all the time, and I'm just starting out and want to try my hand at this. I also don't have a huge budget.

Let me know!

if you have the extra money for that devilbiss Id get that. its better to have a primer gun and base/clear gun. as primer is thicker and needs a bigger tip usually around 1.8 and the base clear is thinner in some cases tips like 1.3

I would not recomend using the same gun for primer and clear. Becomes a real mess.

For the Harbor Freight kit, could I use the larger gun for primer and base, and the smaller for clear?

Or, what would be the ideal use with those two guns?

read this: you don't want to shoot primer with ANY other stuff other than primer, you can't really clean it up even if you flush it with an acetone waterfall.

the HF kit consist of a 1.0 gun and a 1.4 gun with a 1.8 tip, so you have to end up using the 1.8 tip with the 1.4 which is the primer, clear and base cost.

to be honest you are not going to use a 1.0 tip very often unless you do alot of spot works.

you shouldn't be buying anything from HF in the first place(at least for guns), the fact that they are the same gun and probably junk does help neither.

devilbiss is half decent gun, but dont get the startingline, it's way too basic.

try finex, devilbiss finishline, sata(cough), astro evo

buy it once and be done with it, with the junk gun you can't use it much, you can sell it much once you are done with it. plus, all the hundred or thousand dollar on body work and paint will be wasted with a junk gun
