So your back up lights come on when you lock into reverse...what's the problem? People need to stop listening to their dad's for advice about their car.

i think he means they are going out once hes fully engaged. If so, the switch might be bad or broken.

If your dad has so much experience with cars, he should have told you to look at the switch to see if there is any adjustment. Do you want people on here to spoon feed you?

Hmm.. 20 years experience in the Automotive field huh, and yet you're wasting your time here asking that sort of a question... I would like to think that I speak for everyone here when I say, "Quit wasting my time with your retarded question and go ask your Dad."

Ha... So your dad doesn't know everything.. Well, I don't either. Nor do I go about telling everyone about how long I've worked on cars and such, nor do I care. It just pays the bills..

But no, I've never seen that problem.. But from your description, my first guess would be to adjust the shift cable or AT gear position switch. As for adjusting the them, you'll have to remove the center console because it looks like the AT position switch has two mounting bolts on the driver's side. Loosen those and you should be able to slide it back 2mm at most.

There's like 30 years of Accords, & I bet they're not all the same.

I had a '98 4-cyl. automatic. The gear position switch was located on the tranny, and it WAS adjustable.
