Default Possible bad rack or bad cv shaft... violent jerking

I need help guys can't figure out whats wrong with my car. searching has not ruled out what it might be..

when slowing down my car will make a 'clunky' sound, (sorta like a violent cv shaft clunk) and jerk the steering wheel out of my hands, and pull the car to the left. It doesn't do this all the time... and steering feels fine and normal when it's not going on. steering is tight...

- I'v checked for bad wheel bearings.. doesn't have any play. but I've heard that it doesn't exactly have to have play for them to be bad..

- A few weeks ago a line broke on my power steering and all my fluid drained out. I just took the belt off and drove without fluid for few weeks until i fixed it... I'm wondering if i ruined my rack runnin with no fluid.. so i fixed the hose, put new honda fluid & a lil' lucas to try and fix what i damaged.. my steering still feels normal.

- I happen to have a bad cv shaft on that same side as the jerking... it definitely does your normal cv click but iv never had a shaft jerk me off the road like that. I didn't know if it was binding up in there or what..

any ideas guys?

that sounds like a CV axle.

CV axles can break without the boot leaking\rippped.

Check your brakes, Make sure none of them are sticking.

Check all your bushing.

Get the car in the air.

Push and pull on the wheels.

The shafts boot is broken, and it's been clicking for awhile... I know I need to replace it but I've never had a cv shaft jerk me off the road like that.. thats what makes me wonder if it's the rack... i really don't know the symptoms of a bad rack, never had one go out. So you think the shaft is completely busted inside and binding up, locking the wheel causing the wheel to be beaten out of my hands...? it makes sense iv just never had it happen before. Past few days it's been drivin fine.. makes me wonder.
