Default First trip to DYNO tonight...any TIPS/SUGGESTIONS?

Well, I'm finally getting around to tuning the VAFC.

My car currently has the following mods...

Comptech Intake/Icebox
DC JDM 4-1 Header w/ SMSP 2 1/2" cat w/ b-pipe flange
B&M Adjustable FPR

I know, not much for mods, but I'd like to fine tune the fuel and extract the motors potential in its current state.

I've been contemplating whether or not we should adjust the timing and remove the power steering belt. Is there much power to be gained in doing so?

I'm looking for some tips/tricks from others with experience.

Any input greatly appreciated.

Chris

yeah no ****, while you're at it, borrow someone's turbo kit and bolt that on running 104 octane....then you'll have some nice bragging numbers

My advice: run it how you'll run it on the street....if you run PS, run PS on the dyno. just how i'd do it. make sure you have an experienced honda guy with you, who knows his/her way around the VAFC (that is if you dont).

good luck! let us know how it turns out!

wtf man .? im saying , i do that cuz thats how i run it whats the point of a dyno if you dont tweak things to get morre hp from them?
you dont put your car on the dyno to see what it looks like on rollers, you do it to tune it for "max hp and torque" and to get the fuel and **** right?
true or false?

Removing the PS belt is a no-brainer. Leave it on. Unless you just wanna see how much power it sucks up. If you've got a run to spare, try it.

As for adjusting the ignition timing, I've been told by quite a few people (of varying makes and models) that advancing the ignition timing doesn't do anything b/c the ECM still grannies that parameter. I don't know how true that statement, but it's something worth trying.

My experience with ignition timing:

'95 GS-R:
.: 16 deg BTDC got me 142whp and 114 lb*ft (2nd of 3 runs)
:. 18 deg BTDC got me 146whp and 116 lb*ft (3rd of 3 runs)
.Runs were back to back, no more than 2 minutes of down time.
.68k miles on the motor

Just for reference's sake:
'01 ITR
.] 18 deg BTDC, Spoon drop-in foam filter - 165whp and 119 lb*ft
.: 11k miles on the motor
.: cold compression test numbers were 190 to 195 across the board

Both cars were run on the same day within an hour of each other.

Change your fluids before you go theres nothing like a oil/trani-fluid change and a good dyno tune.

Just dyno it with the set up that you will use on the street everyday.
Make sure the plug, wires, and fluids are in good condition!!
