B18B w/B16A Tranny!
What kinda kinda speed are you getting out of the gears?
my stock DA is about,
30MPH out of 1st, 55 out of 2nd, 83 out of 3rd, 110 out of 4th,
and 140 out of 5th. (140 is not red-line in 5th but that's as fast as i ever get it.)

Anybody else with this setup? the motor is currently in my beater and im getting really bad gas mileage now, i range from 200-220miles to a full tank city
motor runs fine, doesn't burn oil/leak/smoke and its still under 100k....

yea expect to get bad gas mileage with this tranny.....if you do highway driving everyday it would be a good idea to put the LS tranny back on just for the better gas mileage

Rpm doesn't determine fuel economy, Throttle position does. He could be using less fuel when using the b16 tranny because he is already in his powerband due to the higher revs of the shorter tranny therefore he doesn't have to step on the throttle as much to get the car moving. Then if you look at it the other way, with the LS tranny your always at lower revs so in order to accelerate and or keep up with the speed flow you have to step on the gas more to get the speed up therefore using more fuel. Hope this makes sense.

b16 trannys on a ls is awesome. The short gears take advantage of the torque curve. But getting closer to top end it sucks because you'll max out at labout 115-20mph or so, not saying that you're gonna go that high. And highway driving is gonna kill your gas, you'll be at 4-4.5k revs doing 80mph.

im a big fan of b18b with short geared tranny. I had an LS with 98 spec itr tranny, 4.7 fd and it ripped. You'll really be using that torque in a way you couldnt with the ls tranny. have fun
I had a b18b with ab16 trans in a DC and it blew the motor up in like two weks. The motor was really tired though and you could tell. It was definitly faster but i dont think the motor could handle it. Has anyone ever had a b16 with a ls trans. I did it just to see what it would be like. It really wasnt that bad. I mean obviously the gears are way to long but it was still quick.

Do you people really drive around at 100 mph every where you go?
Best bet...B16 transmission with ls 5th gear...remember the roads are not speedways, and in the real world gas = $3.25 plus per gallon.

Maybe 2 or 3, but I'm sure the others have a "buddy" that has one.
