Default Heated grips, anyone??

Its already getting cold here in jersey and in an attempt to ride through colder temperatures i was wondering if the heated grips are any good. Here are the ones im talking about:

Does anybody use them?
btw, they are going into this which im not even sure the electrical system can support the extra load:

I have them on my SV they work well. The only problem is your knuckles still get cold from the wind, but it is a great improvement. The wiring they give you is kind of shotty but I used it just make sure to heat shrink the connections. Oh and the switch is already getting corroded but again a 4$ switch from radioshack should fix it. For the money paired with a decent set of winter gloves i was riding in 29 degrees and fine.

Yeah, but the gloves can only do so much and after several minutes my hands start getting cold

Heated gear, is a pretty expensive prospect but well worth it from what I hear. Heated gloves will run you ~$170 + heat troller is another ~$70 - $90 depending if you need a dual troller or not. You will need a dual troller for gloves and heated vest. Heated vest is another ~$139.

Like I said, it can get spendy but well worth it.

the draw of the grips is pretty low, also they make a thing I can't remember what its called they have them at radioshack, but it takes in an always on power line(like one from the battery), a ground, and a wire that only gets powered when the ignition is on. With this you can then run your power wire to the heated grips, it will only run with the ignition, and you shouldn't have to worry about overloading any of your lines. The draw is low I'm pretty sure your charging system should be able to handle it.

On the ghetto side you could just wire everything to the battery, just make sure it turns off. I have mine running off of my headlight with a little inline fuse in between, its risky ecause if it blows something up I have no headlight, but it was really cold when I was wiring mine up.
