I kinda ignored the weight recommendation on my suit and focused more on the inseam, etc. I was told once you break in the suit and the leather stretches you should be fine...you want the suit to fit tight anyways. So I would just go down a size...that's what I did.

Thing is I am a stocky short guy.
I'm not proportional like everybody else.
I am a minimum 46 US on jacket size, so should I stay 46?
I mean I can't imagine fitting in a 44 without getting a huge rash

Have you tried looking into a custom suit? Try looking into NJK. From what I've heard, they make good custom suits.

I worried less about inseam and focused more on waste when I bought my suits. The short inseams can tuck into your boots and if it's too long you can have it tailored. I doubt you'd be able to close a suit that is 2-4" too tight in the waste. It's also easier to have a suit trimmed in the waste than to have it extended. Your best bet is to go to a shop and try them on.

When you purchase a suit you want it to be snug, not cut off circulation to your head.

I'm oddly shaped so all my suits have to be tailored to fit right. My shoulders are too broad and my arms are too long to fit in a 48 & 50 and a 52 is a little too wide in the waste for me.

There's a bunch of sellers on e-bay that will custom tailor a suit to your body dimensions and they guarantee satisfaction of your money back. So there is really no risk besides losing shipping fees if you aren't satisfied. They are also priced really well between $350-500.

Ohhh...I didn't know you could have already made suits tailored...that's sweet.

The difference between having a suit tailored to fit, and one that is completely custom, is not that much (cost-wise). And the benefit for custom is that the maker is usually local and will back up its product.

Let's take an A* suit, which is about $600 for a mid-range suit. Alterations will probably cost about $100 (at the minimum). A ZCustom custom suit is (IIRC) $700 for a one-color job. And NJK makes them for similar prices. There are many other custom suit makers, such as Syed and Barnacle Bill's.
