Engine knock, how can i tell if I have one, what does it sound like and when does it do it???

 

was your motor running fine abd then yiu started kearing a slight cluck or tinking that intensified in consistancy and tone could you feel a knocking hear it under the hood??????

 

The engine runs fine, but I do hear a clucking sound from under the hoos, it only does it when I'm slowing down or taking off, most likely into second gear.

 

with a rod knock your gonna hear the same noise at all rpms..not just in which gear your in.....what kind of sounds is it? can you upload a vid??

 

There is a chance it could be valve noise, I'm sure someone knows how to differentiate between valve noise and the knocks, pings, and other bad noises...

Also, the way you descried it, it could be a loose heat shield buzzing when you either take off or decelerate.

I am hoping it's just something loose in the suspension, last week I took the car to honda for tranny fluid change and the service guy told me that my stabilizer bar bushings needed to be replaced, so it clould easily be something loose under the engine or something.

F22x is known for excessive cam journal wear on #2 cylinder that causes a clicking noise that sounds like rattling valvetrain.


you want to know if the engine is knocking? drive up a steep hill and you will definately know it.

If you only hearing it in one gear, thne it's probably something else. Is this noise something your car has always made, or has just started to receently. Also Yr and model help.
