Sorry... Ahem.
When did you last change your oil?</TD></TR></TABLE>
I would also recommend looking to see if your "check engine" light is on. Usually, when the car is in limp mode, the CEL will illuminate.

When it says, "Check Engine", that usually means you need it serviced. Get an appointment with your local Honda Dealership as soon as you have time available.

Hmm.. What do you mean by redline??.. Do you mean the engine won't rev past 3500rpm??..
I've seen one incident on that model year civic where it wouldn't rev past 3000 rpm or so with the check engine light on. Then when I shut off the car and started it up, the light was off and it idled for maybe 2 mins and the light came back on. I would shut it off and start it up again, but this time I revved it up and down then the light came on in like 30seconds of revving it.
Pulled the code, had a CKP performance/range problem and a CAM/TDC no pulse. Checked power, ground and reference signal at the sensor and confirmed the CAM/TDC sensor was cutting out after it got warm. Replaced the darn thing and the light stayed off and it ran fine.
So yeah, moral of the story.. Go pull that code..
