Default Honda civic weak heat and car will not heat up?

Hello guys, I am having a bit of a issue. My 95 civic EX is not blowing really hot heat? Now I checked the switch cable to see if it was all the way over to hot and even did in manually by hand on the firewall to be sure.

Now this is the odd thing? no matter how long I drive the car the hottest the engine ever gets is like 1/4 to 1/3 under the half way mark, So can anyone please provide there thoughts? As winter is almost here and with no heat im kinda screwed. Thanks!

Probably a bad thermostat, but you can try burpping it again first to make sure theres no air pocket in your radiator. Change the coolant recently?

Well, I have not had the car long (a few months) but there was no real heat before and I recently did a coolant flush. But I did use the old stat, Do you think the stat would really effect the engine were it runs so cold? I am stumped on this one. But I guess I will throw a new honda stat and see what happens. Anyone else got imput?

your thermostat could be stuck open , and causing it to not warm up.... i would try that if you did the coolant flush properly.

After you did a coolant flush, did you burp it right? On a cold engine, fill up radiator, leave cap off, put heat on max, let the bubbles bubble out until heat is hot, fill if necessary, then cap it.

Hey, Yes I did burp it and the coolant is up. There is no airlocks in the system? What would cause the engine to only heat up 20% or less under the red line? would this for sure effect the heat?

Yeah. When my thermostat or fan switch went bad, I had the same symptons. I switched both, problem solved, so I'm not exactly sure which is the culprit.

Thanks guys! Now how would the fan switch be the issue maybe? As the fan does come on, if the fan switch did not work would this not cause the engine to heat up as opposed to stay cool?
