Default 92 civic overheating

My civics been overheating a lot lately. At first, the engine temperature would shoot up to above H for a few minutes at a time before returning to normal temperature. I thought it was my thermostat so I bought a new one from a honda dealer. This did not fix my problem, so i decided to try taking out the thermostat. The car ran fine for a day or two, the only difference being the engine taking a few minutes longer to heat up. After a few days of running the car without a thermostat, the car began overheating again. It is consistantly overheating after driving for about 10 minutes and remaining hot until i turn the engine off. the heater is never warm.

Also, the RPMs consistently irratically rev to ~3000 while the engine is idle. At first, it would only do this periodically when warming up. now it does it all of the time.

My guess is i am somehow getting air in my coolant system. I recently put in a new heater core and replaced all of the coolant hoses.

this is a 5-speed 1992 honda civic lx

go check the compression... that'll tell you pretty much what the problem is.
Do you see any white smoke coming out of the tail pipe when you excellerate?

it sounds like a headgasket to me.

probably just a airlock in your cooling system buy a new t stat install it then have the engine on and loosen the coolant bleeder valve add pop the rad cap add coolant until the rad is full and u see no more bubbles coming out of the bleeder valve tighten vleeder valve and top up the rad let it idle till it reachs regular (half in the temp gauge) u can assist this by pushing on the throttle and keeping it at around 2500-3k once it hits half your rad fan should turn on and the t stat should open once it does check ur lower rad hose to see if coolant is running thru it then just fill up your rad as the level will drop and done

Hold on....
there are a few things that need to be done before you go telling someone that they need a new headgasket...

First you need to re-install the thermostat.
You cannot go with out one (or a restrictor plate installed)

second you need to spend some time diagnosing your cooling system.

is your system holding pressure?
Is your cap holding pressure.
Do you have a leek,
Is your radiator corroded?
Is your water pump working?

Are both hoses getting hot, or only one?
Is your fan turning on and turning off correctly?

Also did you make sure that you hooked up the heat lines correctly?
Look at you motor, and verify with a factory service manual.
