stock ap1 on dyno? what should one expect
my car was tuned on a mustang dyno yesterday. i never had a base run though while it was completely stock. what does the average ap1 with no modification make on a mustang dyno? i've come to the assumption by searching on s2ki and talking to a couple buddies that they make around 162 peake at the wheels but i'd like to see more evidence. anyone done a bone stock pull?
try searching next time
00-03 stock = 195-215whp
04+ stock = 195-220whp
with cai and exhuast...add in 5-10whp

you came to the assumption that your average S2K makes 162 at the wheels, even though it puts out 240 at the crank??? you estimated a 25% drivetrain loss????
wtf? this isn't an RX-8
No offence, but that is a horrible assumption. I have never even heard of any S2000 Dyno-ing that freaking low, mustang Dyno or not.
Here, I'll tell you that my Ap1, with exhaust and Test pipe, dynos at 204.8 on a mustang dyno, and around 232 on a dyno jet. does that help?

Funny
obviously there is a difference between dyno jet and mustang dyno... Several people on s2ki reported less than 165 on a mustang stock. so no, i'm not an idiot. and my friend's car made 162 bone stock on the same dyno that my car was tuned on. and actually, 162 at the wheels would be over a 30% drivetrain loss on a mustang dyno. which i don't think is that absurd for rwd. and the 200whp that 91jdmhatchback reported on a dynojet has got to be ball park with 165 range on a mustang dyno which would also support my horrible assumption. no offense techno, but maybe the mustang dyno you tuned on was improperly calibrated? what exhaust is on ur car?
thanks for the feedback everyone though!

plus i did search, and i had already read that link that had gotten hijacked to into a debate of running open header and if ap1 is better than ap2. if ucking hate honda-tech sometimes! and none of the numbers reported in that thread had anything to do with accurate mustang dyno peak power

I'm not calling you an idiot... I have no idea who you talked to, or why in gods name you think a "30%" drivetrain loss, is normal in any rwd car, let alone an S2000...which if it made 162 at the wheels, would make less at the wheels than a 2006+ civic SI.
Seriously, I have seen countless threads on S2ki, and H-T about numbers from dyno's, and I have not seen that 162 at the wheels is normal at all. that is well below average imo.
Normal? 185-190 on a mustang dyno, and 205-215 on a dyno jet. From what I have seen.
only mods on my car are an Amuse R1 Titan 63mm, and t1r test pipe.

which make about 145 on a mustang. Get your facts straight. 160-170 is normal on a mustang for an S2000.

just out of curiousity, do you own an S2000, and have dyno'd it?
I'm honestly curious now, because from what I knew...this isn't normal at all.
Any other S2000 owners out there want to share dyno's??

No, I do not, but I have personally witnessed a number of them dyno in that exact range

PTuning in Manassas, VA has a Dyno Dynamics AWD dyno. They had a dyno day for S2000's and NSX's a couple weeks ago. Most the cars ran were stock or intake and exhaust only with maybe 10 SC/Turbo S2K's.
The dyno results for most of the cars were between 190-205 whp depending on AP1/AP2, mileage, and parts.

I put my 02 on the Dyno about 3 weeks ago and only put down 195whp and 137wtq, on a DynoJet. I have a AEM cai and Toda exhaust, I was like wtf. Any suggestions on why my numbers seem low? Thanks
ur numbers aren't low and a lot of exhaust out there don't seem to make power... and that's true for several intakes too for these cars. becareful when moding.
195 on a dyno jet would be slightly higher than 165ish on a mustang i would guess.

Let's not forget here. A dynojet reads 15% higher then a mustang dyno. Then add in the Honda 15% drivetrain loss and you're numbers are fine.
made 177 on a dnyo dynamics which reads within 5% of a mustang dyno. with exhaust intake and a super afc. people just need to know that there are differances in what type of dyno you use. some a more just for tuneing

THANK YOU! finally someone on ht knows theres something other than a dynojet... i was begining to lose hope

has anyone dyno'd or even heard of a dynomite dyno ? i had a chance for a free run, so i dyno'd at 199 whp. all stock. thought it was kinda low. 1 guy mentioned dynomites are 5% lower than dynojets.
meh, maybe my heay *** wheels.

My post was in reference to the Dyno Dynamis AWD dyno they have at PTuning. The numbers that I said were just higher, which are more accurate as well because there were tons of cars dynoed that day.

Either the dyno was not calibrated correctly, or you were at least 15hp away from what you should have made.
