Default car catching on fire.

has anyone has this happened to them? I just found out that my gsr got burned down this morning. It was raining hard last night. One of my neighbors saw that my bumper lights were flashing and then the alarm was going off.. then 10 mins later, saw a small flame and immediately called the cops. 5 mins later, the fire department came to put it out. From the looks of it, it probably started in the front left side, and the fire made its way into the engine bay. the rest of the car is fine (cabin and trunk is all in tact).

From what the witness said,... i think it started with the bumper lights. but i never altered the wiring on that side of the car. The Right side however is all in tact, just covered with ashes. What do you guys think?

anyone? i just heard that the witness thought my foglights werent blinking.. i dont have foglights.

there's evidence that points that it might have been vandalism because one rim is all black, but there's no way it could have burned (rims don't burn.. it's metal). and the backside of the tire is still good looking.

it might be vandalism, cars don't seem to catch fire much. my friends BMW 2002 burned to the ground in his driveway, car hadn't been started or driven in a couple days.

That certainly sucks. I thought underhood fires were reserved for Fords?

Look low for the ignition point. Fire tends to spread upwards.

What type of alarm was it? Do you think the alarm could have sparked something?

But yeah, I'd say vandalism.

That sucks man.

clifford 6000 advanguard.

the back of the front wheel was all black. not the rear wheels... i m gonna try to salvage the motor. if all that is left is the head , block, tranny, ECU.. would it be hard to get all the other parts for a swap?

As for the swap parts, not really, since alot of people do those swaps.

As for the fire, my mother-in-law's Ford exporer caught fire while it was raining. Started at the driver's side rear taillight and pretty much stopped there. Apparently, water seeped into the taillight housing and shorted the wiring for the bulbs and ultimately started the fire. Her insurance paid for it to be fixed without paying a deductible (she's a bitch when she wants something).

lightning? Also, the clearcoat on the wheel will burn/char pretty easily and even the metal will melt if it gets hot enough. Also, if it was raining there is probably a lesser chance somebody was out there messing with it.

You did not change a fuse that was suppose to have a smallr amp rating to something of higher rating? I seen this happen so many times. BUt luckly no one burnt down like yours.

Maybe a shorted wire ignited some debree that may have been in your engine bay? I have never heard of integras spontaneously combusting like this. I wouldn't rule vandalism out as well. Sorry to see this happen.
