The repetitive ctr mirror question.
So, I finished installing my CTR mirrors today. I got all the wiring and everything setup (thanks to some handy diagrams on here). I've read through all the threads regarding the shitty vision that the mirrors provide. I've swapped the actual mirror glass to USDM ITR glass (to fix the convex / flat) issue. Even after swapping the glass, it seems as though the housing is off or something. All I get is a nice view of the side of the car. Even when the mirror is adjusted all the way to one side, I still get the same view of myself / the side of the car. If they are adjusted the opposite way, I can see basically the whole interior of my car. Any help / ideas / solutions?
I guess i'm a little confused because from the factory, the civic type r mustve had usuable mirrors, so whats off?

when they powerfold open, are they opening all the way? I had that problem with my powerfolding mirrors on my EG.
Also, just to throw this out..... did you try sitting in your passenger seat, and then adjusting them? RHD mirrors will adjust so the US passenger side can see......

yeah, they are all the way out. I think maybe its just the base of it or something is throwing off the vision. I think ima try to get the knockoff ones from robearracing and then swap the power folding mechanism into them. Someone had the same idea in this thread:

So, anyone know if it works?

Exactly. One of the mirrors is flat, and the other is convex (or is it concave, whatever). On RHD, the glass is switched. You'll need to find glass from a European country.

It's convex. Think concave as "cave"d-in.

I know the difference, I just couldn't remember which one the mirror actually was.

If it was concave, you'll get a miniature, upside down reflection.

He knows that. He just got the terms for each mixed up.

okay, everyone thats talking about the convex vs. flat. I already swapped the mirrors to the USDM ITR glass. And im still getting the horrible vision of nothing but myself. Reading > you. So then what?

Perhaps it either has to do with slightly different designs or perhaps it has somethign in common with Eran's Spoon replica mirrors which when the glass was removed, has began to do the same thing. Since they were removed they haven't aimed correctly either and aim comparably to what you say yours do.

Well, heres a pic of an authentic CTR (from the inside). As you can see, regardless of whether the glass is convex / flat, the drivers side (USDM) or passenger in this case, provides a great view of the back seat. So I think, its just from the factory, the base portion of the CTR mirrors points inward (making them useless on a LHD drive car no matter what kind of glass you use).
I'm going to pick up a set of the replicas from robearracing assuming that because a reputable shop is selling them that they must provide a usable view. Then ill attempt to make them power folding by swapping the internals.

I didnt know they were avaliable?
