Default HONDA INTERIOR REPRODUCTION PARTS

One of my bosses friend which just hit wealth not loo long ago bought an old plastic molding factory in china. He has retooled the place and is making new plastic casts. He is looking to mass produce reproduction plastic Honda parts,(other imported brands too but mainly Honda.) but he needs to see what is more popular interior pieces to swap in our cars, or what are common things that brake in our cars as well. what this would do in case you didn't pay attention in school, is that the parts would be extremely cheap if they are reproduced and more commonly available, the faster he can start reproducing scarce and rare parts. the faster he is gonna be able to sell them. i by all means am not getting money from this, but i am interested since i want parts that are not available for my interior to be made again, and cheaper. I.E. integra center consoles, arms rests, replacement center consoles side trim pieces ect. ect. ect. ect.
every idea suggested here WILL be taken seriously as long as it is worth mass producing. the more he can sell the more cheaper it will be once again. Honda forums in general will be a big starting point to start selling these parts when time is given. so please help us help our selves, . The owner of the factory is at step zero waiting to start.
once again,
1. suggest rare, though wanted parts that are hard to find.
2.commonyl broken interior pieces
3.what would be good replacement parts.
HE IS ONLY WORKING WITH PLASTIC RIGHT NOW.

thank you for reading

UPDATE 11/11/2007

i was doing some research on other forums such as azht.net and hondahookup. ect ect. and this is what i have come up with so far. (this is including some of your pieces mentioned too.)

the ones that came up the most were
jdm style zc bumper and lips
door moldings
integra center console
door panels
climate controls
Si bezels
Larger bezels for different clusters
rear crx speaker bass tubes
rear speaker mounting brackets for hatchbacks
cargo boxes
map light
crx bottom fender moldings
crx cargo dividers
pretty much the whole rear crx set up
factory style window cranks
A pillar covers
trim pieces

i got an important note form the owner of the factory,

the smallest batch of parts he is willing to make is 10,000 pieces per suggested item, so we have to make sure is a item worth reproducing like mentioned. items listed is what i believe are the most solicited items. il keep updating the list. . keep them coming, the sooner we can get them turned it the sooner we get parts

update 11/14/2007

sorry i took long to reply, i did not get a chance to see him when i said i would, though i already got together with him just this morning, we have till after Christmas to turn it all in. He informed me that production will most likely start in 08. He also has other things lined up before this, so that's the reason why til 08. He is looking for a crx to purchase now, to ship it over and have them start reproducing the casts to make the parts. so far so good he said, he is just busy a lot. This will just cover the replacement parts. his next step would be buying the parts that are jdm for him to reproduce since the crx he is gonna buy will most likely be usdm stock. il keep updated

I think the optional audio consoles would be a hit. Or even if you could mould your own console that included a second din slot for civics. As for commonly broken plastic pieces, i havent noticed anything that seems susceptible to breakage, but ill keep an eye out.

jdm crx rear speaker bass tubes would be very nice to have cheap replica's of.... they are up the butt pricing, along with everything else jdm, so it would be nice for a change....

i know that some people have issues with the rear cargo stuff... my little cargo box is broken (and so is everybody elses that ive seen... hard to find not broken...) along with the cargo divider and the hatch cover... but both those are like carboard and fabric... maybe be able to do plastic and then fabric???

+1 I'd love to have a "trunk" that didn't cost $280 and the carpeted cover.

all parts in black though.
dash, dash console, center console, cargo box, maplight, cargo cover, rear plastic paneling, rear seats, headliner, trim (for sides of car), and door panels. high quality molded carpet would be good too.

New in box reproduction SIR front and rear bumper covers FTW along with reproduction SIR amber and clear bumper lenses (stanley SIR bumper lenses are like $160 on EGAY). A lot of the things listed in your first list are EASY and CHEAP to find, like A-pillar trim, window cranks inner quarter panels are a little harder to find perfect but are out there... Those items in mint condition probably wouldn't be more than $10-20 each used online. The factory optional center console would be a big hit, Im voting for the JDM map light mentioned above too. Cargo cover peices would be the ****, sell them in ABS plastic uncovered to give owner choice of covering material possibly? tweed, vinyl, leather, carpet, paint etc.. So to sum it up

SIR front and rear bumper covers
factory optional center console
JDM map light
Cargo cover/ devider peices

Does the part have to be an OEM item? Like, is he going to be sourcing the original mold from the manufacturer or will you be sending him the original piece and he will make the mold out of that?

The reason i ask is because if its the latter, one of you that have made the center console and armrest from the integra or civic could provide him with one of those.

That way, when he makes the mold, it will look more OEM rather than cut up factory pieces.

Even better would be to find an original JDM or USDM CRX center arm rest. There was a an arm-rest offered as an accessory in the US, its still in the honda parts database at the dealership, but has been out of stock discontinued etc for years and years... But what Im getting at is a copy of an oem piece would be better than a copy of a cut up arm rest from another car... another couple for the list:

Window visors
exterior molding strips, these will be tricky though as they have a metal strip through the center and a small stud that bolts into the doorskin near the back of the door, would be better without the metal though, if they were solid plastic they could be installed with double sided tape instead of clips and they'd be removable without destroying them

+1 on the JDM maplight.

The CRX armrest would be great too. (not the Integra rest)

I can tell you for me at least, the simple rear interior plastic panel, the very center rear on the CRX, the clips bust off easily and get brittle. Same with the two side ones that tuck around the door molding.

I think the best course of action from a business perspective is to go to businesses that may be able to actually place such a large bulk order.

Try emailing passwordjdm and see what they recieve the most requests for that they have a hard time fulfilling orders on.

10,000 pieces?! I don't think there is any one item that you could make and then sell 10,000 of them in a short amount of time.

if you really wanted to make some crx parts, I'd do these;

1. e-brake handle, most of them are spotty looking now

2. si front lip

3. the ukdm flush mounted SI-R rear spoiler

4. center console - the big main piece that goes around the radio

5. climate control face plate

if you felt like making some custom pieces, you could consider parts with gauge pods in them. like steering column covers with one or two slots for autometer gauges. or the plastic frame the radio sits in, but instead of a pocket underneath, put some gauge sockets there. I believe these would actually sell better than oem replacement parts.

and then again, with the custom gauge pods molded into factory looking trim pieces, I'd focus on newer cars like the 99-04 mustang, 94-01 integra, 02+ wrx, evo, srt-4, etc. I like my crx, but the car is 16 years old. there are still plenty of them around to pull parts from.

Those climate controls would be hard to replicate, with heaps of different pieces. I was thinking simple one mould things.

Center console for a civic hatch with arm rest is a hard one to come buy. Replicating them would yield you a nice profit from us hatch guys/
