American made suspension products?
I am trying to find struts/shocks that are made in the good ol USA. Most products out there are made overseas somewhere and well i am trying to support american businesses as much as possible when it comes to building my car. So if there are any companies that are american based and built id appreciate some insight. I think from what ive seen progress is an american company but not sure. Please lend some help! Thanks
Progress Technology is probably the number one American manufacturer on my list. I have been nothing short of impressed by their products.
Ground Control's Advance Design dampers are manufactured in the US, but please take my advice when I say that you really don't want those, especially if the car is street driven. They are known to be very fragile and difficult to set up properly.

Progress does not really manufacture anything to be honest. They do not make springs, bars and I am pretty sure their coilovers are not made in America (I like them, though).
Like Targa said, AD's are not a good idea for daily drivers.
Our high end coilovers are made in house (Corona, CA Office) by hand. Our street coilovers are still made in Germany. All of our springs are American made, though

Nothing really comes to mind. haha
Maybe you should just support a reputable company that has been in the game for a while that will still be around in a couple years. Koni, GC, Eibach, H&R, Progress, Tokico, etc.

yeah ui kind of see how i would appear to be a hippocrite wanting american made products but as of right now it has more to do with the american economy and pride then most other things and im not a huge fan of worrying about what is jdm and all that. Hey and american stuff alot of times is cheaper and if there is a prob faster to be taken care of! Im jsut sick of seeing the us take a beating in world markets when we help put all of those other countries on the map!

really well then f that. not the company but man does everyone out source their products? What about QA1 or strange products? those are the only other brands that i can think of that might be american made? Not even sure if they have honda civic as an app, i really dont want to do custom. I really can't afford that or what something that drastic for dd. Just curious and wanting to get the info out there!
One factor that really was against American manufactured products in the past (besides the extremely high labor costs) was the high value of the dollar against other currency. Now that the dollar has been deflated to a very low value, I believe we'll be seeing more products manufactured here for export to other countries.
that was kind of where i was coming from with my point that the US is now in a bit of a recession and dollar has gone down. Id like to bring more business back to where it belongs. We have the fastest and probably some of the most well designed cars the world over and its time these companies showed the world what we are made of ..in a sense
American business is all grown up now, it can take care of itself. American business and business around the world makes the choice to send their labor overseas, whether it is to Taiwan, China, Vietnam, India, etc and they did it for a good reason. Your intentions may be good but its going to take more than good intentions to turn the table in the U.S.'s favor in terms of the trade deficit and outsourcing.
If you want to help the economy and support american business, do your homework and spend your dollar in quality products from good, ethical businesses.

I want to agree with you that i want quality products and i know for myself perosnally for self preservation and piece of mind is what i was thinking. Would i like to be able to make a difference yes but as of right now i am starting small. I do understand where you are coming from as i have heard only good things about your products, koni, eibach, as well as many others. I wasn't negating the fact that there are good products from companies overseas. For my i am somewhat of a tradtional elitist american and want the best that my country has to offer. Not sure if that is possible but is a direction that i am trying to head in.
I do understand why american companies have sent so many business overseas but that doesn't change the fact that it wasn't made in the usa. I would gladly pay more for something made in the usa then another " third world country"

The reason so many business are manufacturing overseas is thanks to the american consumer. They demand low prices, and right now if you aren't manufacturing overseas, the business that are will take over your sales and the ones made in the USA will hurt and lose money.
The business I am in currently, we mold plastic products. Our effective labor rate to have people assemble products off of the molding press is about $45/hr, the effective labor rate to do the same thing in China is about $1.5/hr. That's a HUGE savings! Sometimes they don't even add in labor for products made in China, since the labor rate is so low. But you really need to perform about 100% inspection on everything to insure they maintain the quality.

and thats why i don't know what kind of labor practices are going on in these countries and things like that they have no laws to really regulate . I think its our jobs as americans to not let that happen and make the best products pay a little more and drive up the economy. Also i was looking at the edelbrock suspension and was wondering what kind of prices are they going for? I thought i remembered you having them on your car or something?
I've been to China. No, its not all child labor. The factory I was in was making us plastic injection molds. There a person is paid about $100/month and gets free room in the dorm and free food.
I asked our translater what she pays for rent, and it was only 45 RMB, which is about $6.50/month!
I am not sure if the Edelbrock coilovers are being made anymore. They were not selling as well as they had hoped. The price was about $600/pair but I haven't checked the prices lately. yes, I used to have them on my car, for about 3 years, but I am running the Eibach ones now. I had the Edelbrock's rebuilt and put stiffer springs on them and then sold them.
