OT threads in ITR forum... your thoughts?
It's been a while since this has been discussed and I was wondering if we could recap everyone's thoughts on how we should handle OT threads in this forum. This makes the moderators jobs easier as the majority's decision is more clear (hopefully).
I, for one, feel that the ITR forum is a community and OT threads do help foster the spirit of a community.
But on the other hand OT threads that are prefaced with blurbs such as "I know this is OT, but the ITR forum is usually more knowledgeable" only seem to clutter our busy forum and push more relevant topics further down the list. So there is no confusion, questions about ITR parts (irrelevant of their intended usage) should always be welcomed.
The only reason I bring up this matter is because I have noticed a sudden decline in the quality of threads in this forum.
What do you other ITR owners think?
Note #1: Owners of non-ITRs, please see above. We don't need your comments. This means you, Splat.
Note #2: Please do not take note #1 seriously.

most of the OTs lately just plain belong in other forums....member's, classifieds, whatever. I for one think a little bit of off topic adds spice, as long as its not "need girl advice" or some dumb **** thats way way off base...
OT is why us non-ITR owners read this board. This has become the home for a lot of "former hybrid'" members who have sinced moved on, as well as those who have since moved to a ITR. This forum would be boring as **** if it weren't for the O-T, it would be "Is metal really better than fiberglass front end " or "Which camshaft is better" "which header is the best". There are days where you want that knowledge and for that there is the search. For the other days there are O-T so people like me who are H-T addicts can have something to do at work/home/school when jack **** is going on

It's hard to say...some of the OT stuff I enjoy. But some of it gets annoying, like the "I know this is OT, but the ITR forum is usually more knowledgeable" threads you mentioned. Then again, even some of the on topic stuff gets old too, such as someone posting 4 different Spoon caliper threads in just 4 days. It's gotten to the point that I don't worry about what's in here anymore. If it doesn't interest me, I just ignore it.

I like everything except questions about swaps/hybrids and other motor/car tech questions. there are far better forums out there to answer those. what bothers me more are the response that only point to "do a search" . if you have nothing other to say then "do a search" ,dont post.

That's very sad.
I don`t mind the OT threads. I can usually tell if I want to read them or not by the subject line. I know the people in the ITR forum much better than the other forums, especially members corner, which I`ve never even used. This is why I may post an "ot" thread in this forum.
This is where it gets kind of weird. Like I said, I don`t mind the OT threads, but when it`s some freakin newbie just posting dumb **** I get annoyed. I can tolerate OT posts if you a "local" in this forum

You're right...but what can I do? I'm not a moderator. My choices are to get all worked up about it and complain a lot, or to ignore it. I don't have time for the first option, so the second one works for now.
That's the whole point of this thread. I want everyone to give their opinion so we come to a general consensus of what this forum wants.

If I see a thread like "Quick, will this part work on this car?" started by a regular such as b2finity, sackdz, etc I'm more inclined to click the thread then if it's started by someone who has never been seen before in this forum.
Thanks for the love Reid. I always click on your threads too...I like to post in them
I click on your threads too but you don't really create any...Do you remember helping me a lot on the bumper bulb mod?
I was a newb back then...
