OK... Now that you have read the EXACT same ad I read. Listen to this...

I called this SOB on thursday and talked to him about his car. I asked him why it didnt run, this is what he tells me:

"Oh dude all it needs is a wire harness. It has the LS wire harness on it, but needs to be converted to MPFI."

"Really? Thats all it needs to get it running?" I ask him, waiting for other problems to be uncovered.

"Yea man thats it. All it needs is a converted DX harness and its ready to go." he replies.

I proceed to ask him why he is letting it go so cheep. He tells me about how he now races quads and he no longer has time to devote to the car. He also informs me that his quad is in the shop and thats about how much it is going to cost to get it out so he can start back racing. So I tell him that i am seriously interested and i want to pick it up. Before anything else is said, he tells me about the other goodies on the car (skunk2 coilovers, guages, and other "goodies") and drops the price to 700 without me even asking.

I make a few phone calls, sit and thing about it for a minute and call him back. After talking for a minute, i decide that i will go ahead and pick it up. I inform him that i found a converted DX harness and will head to ATL friday after work. Agreed.

I get off work and let him know im headed that way. He hesitates...

"What are your plans when you get here?" he asks...

Instantly im thinking WTF? So i explain...

"Well when i get there i am going to plug up my wire harness, if the car cranks, Ill test drive it. If it runs nice, ill buy it..." (Plain and simple in my eyes...let me know if im wrong)

"Whoa whoa whoa", he says. "You know the motors not bolted in right?"

"What do you mean its not bolted in???" at this point im starting to get a little irritated.

"Well, its in the car... but its not bolted down." is his response.

"So what all is needed to get the car to DRIVE?" is my question to him.

"A wire harness and a cherry picker to move the motor." he tells me.

"OK. let me call you back".

I call a few buddies and get the crew convinced to take this two hour trip to help me out. Once thats out of the way i call this idiot back.

"Hey man. im still coming. Ive got a few friends with me that will help me get the motor bolted up."

"You trying to get it running tonight?" is the next stupid question he blurts out.

"Yea dude, the only way im buying it is if i drive it home."

"Well i have to go to work tomorrow, im going to bed at 10:30, you guys wont be able to get the car running by then." he tells me.

"How long do you think it takes to bolt a motor down and hook up a wire harness man? The motor is in the car already. It wont take us long."

"You gotta put the axles on too man."

OK. by this point im starting to get pissed. "So it needs axles too?!"

"No No No! i have the axles, they just need to be put in."

"OK man im comming. it wont take us long. We have two trunk loads of tools, and 6 guys. Im sure we could knock it out"

***Disclaimer***
I am by no means bitching about the price of the car, cause in my eyes it was a steal. What im getting at is that this guy added something new everytime we talked.

ok. back to the story...


We head up to Ga...make the two hour drive to ATL before we hit I-20... i get onto I-20 and call him to get further directions.

"Hey man we are on I-20, what exit do we take?"

After he tells me what exit to take he asks me this question...

"Yall are towing it right?"

"No! i told you we were gonna put it together. It wont take long."

"I understand that, but its dark now, and i stay in the country, i dont want to wake anyone up... and you DID bring a radiator right?"

By this time im motioning for my buddy to take the upcoming exit.

"No, i didnt bring a radiator, you didnt say it needed one"

"Yea i did man! I told you it needed radiator the first day you called..."

"No you didnt. You did not tell me that."

"Well what are you going to do?" he asks me.

"Let me call you right back" i slam the phone down in the floorboard.

We pull over into wendys, i inform my friends what is going on as we sit there and come up with a plan. We decided to at least go look at the car and see what all it needed.

I call the guy back and let him know what we decide.

"Hey man, im not picking the car up tonight?"

"Youre not?!" he says to me, sounding like he is somewhat relieved.

"Nah, im not. But we are going to look at it and see what all it needs to get it running."

"Oh... you are?", this time he sounded somewhat dissappointed(sp?)

"Yea, ill give you a call when we get to your exit."

Well we get to his exit, and i call his phone. Now its turned off. It wasnt late, it was no where near 8 o clock. so we sit in a gas station for about 30 minutes trying to call this guy before i gave up. You know when you've been had. This was one of those times. So i treated to dinner and gas. Just got dropped off at home. Was gonna go out for a drive, but left the keys to my EJ (DD) in my buddies RSX. Awesome Friday night.

Just thought id share my little friday night road trip with you guys.

wow what a douche bag, i HATE people like that. whenever i sell a car i tell people EVERYTHING that i know it needs.

In temple GA? I-20 west, about 20-30 minutes past six flags. well thats where the exit was at least.

 

i had almost the exact thing happen to me when i took my cousin to pick up a car.


except, we were told the car was in a running condition.


i drove an hour and a half there, worked on the car for 2 hours, determined it to be a lost cause, and started to drive home. my cousin was pissed.... so we went back to confront the guy. he wasnt home (or was hiding), but we scared his roommate into giving us $28 for gas. it took me about 30 minutes to get home since i was so friggan pissed.

 

im guessin that wasnt even the right address i bet...but dman that sucks though

 

same type of thing in a way. Go pick up two motors, told one is pristine condition, other is obvious blown up with a rod out the block. I took a breaker bar to turn it over and ****, but honestly completely forgot when i saw this guy had about 80 hondas (NO LIE!) i was in heavan. Give him the cash, drive home, few days later go to turn it over. Clunk Clunk, JAM. The ****** mains were out of it, the guy had unbolted the rods, then threw the parts back in under the oil pan and put about 3 nuts on the pan. It was pretty dark in his garage and **** when we loaded or i woulda noticed. FUCKTARD never answered his ohone unless i blocked my number, then he would hang up when i told him i want some cash back.

 

Why do some people list a shitload of cars in their sig that they dont even have anymore? What is the point of wasting space for a bunch of cars you dont even own?

All i can do is laugh at the whole thing now. just woke up not too long ago and missed a call from a 770 area code number. guess it was him. oh well...

Ive come to the conclusion that when i do get a few more dollars saved up im just gonna browse here on h-t. Its good to know that there are some decent honda-heads around. and most of them if not all of them are on h-t.


how about the next day (saturday) i got two calls from a georgia number (770). one at 9am and another at 12pm. i didnt answer though. didnt feel like hearing any more b.s

About a month ago me and a guy traded my ef for his eg hatch for a week cuz the guy wanted to trade, then he trades back and tells me that he wants me to fix the roof and the windsheild and he will trade.... I rip out my old roof and install an entire si roof (CAME WITH WORKING SUNROOF.... I JUMPED FOR JOY), new windsheild... then he says he wants the exhaust done, so i buy the muffler... i tell him and he says he does not think that its in his budget.... im like your budget? i just fixed everything on the car... i mean you put new fenders on the car and you can paint it... I was even gonna give him all the primer, sealer, paint and clear.. and hes like no no i cant...

At least i now have a sunroof and it doesnt leak Anyone want any info on how to do a sunroof swap let me know
