Default Dirty Intake Manifold...

is the main source of the black whatever inside the intake manifold from the stock pcv system being rerouted back into the intake manifold?

would it be helpful if i plug in the nipple on the intake manifold on which the stock pcv hose attaches to, and just connect the pcv hose from the black box to a catch can of some sort and let it the gasses escape into the environment?

Yes it is.

If you mean putting a hose from the intake manifold to a catch can. That will not work as the oil is not coming from there. There are normally 2 PCV valves and most people who run oil catch can setups have both plumbed to a oil catch can.

never seen any setup like that before........ but what that is, is a water seperator for an air compressor or paint gun........ never thought it could serve as a ghetto oil seperator

I don't see what's so 'ghetto' about it, I bet it works a hell of a lot better then the $100 oil catch cans which are just a can with a piece of steel wool and a baffle in it.

for thinking outside the box and coming up with a better filtration system.

you can pick one of those up at any hardware store...... home depot, lowes, etc...... in the compressor section

and im not sure where you guys are thinking this is any better......... sure it keeps your intake mani cleaner (W0W LYK3 0MG MY 1NT4K3 1S CL34N3R!!1!) but other than that it is no better than stock........ and FYI the $100 or more breather kits do far more than add a can to the end of the hose, they help relieve crankcase pressure by adding vent ports on the back of the block/valve cover, which is more beneficial than a plain ol catch can/ compressor water seperator........

CAN THIS PLEASE BE LOCKED

Why would this be locked? This is good technical discussion.

And it does more than keep the intake manifold cleaner, it prevents oil vapor from entering the combustion chambers. Oil vapor + gas = lower octane. Anybody running bigger cams or advanced timing is looking to keep as far away from knock as possible.

Yes, it is better than stock because the stock system has no way of preventing oil vapor from entering the intake air.

As for the crancase ventilation, yes, if you plumb them to the back of your block. But many people will use two catch cans, one for crankcase ventilation and one for the PCV system and valvecover ventilation (yes, some people combine the two).

So leave the L33T speak for arguing with nOObs.

it will seperate oil from the going into the intake, but i wouldnt think it would relieve pressure any better then the stock system, whereas a catchcan will do both and do it more efficiently
