So what do you think is next ?
Its been a rainy day here and I've been posting on this site more than I ever before. Anyways, I started noticing and thinking what the new trends out there will be ?
I remember back in 1997 when the hot trend now was non existant to the untrained eye. Although, I remember it, didn't pursue it until mid to late 1998...it was still rare back then, but as soon as I appeared with goodies, all of my friends looked at me as if I was from another planet......now we fast forward to 2002 and while 18's on a civic was baller in 2000, is not now and it seems like the wheels are getting smaller......
This might seem pointless as I never posted anything like this, but what do you think is next ? What is gonna be considered rice in 2003 ?? Probably most of the stuff that's considered rice now, but what will be the next invention ? Everyone ditching their fuel injected system and step down to carbs ?? LOL
This rain needs to stop so I can get out....

History repeats itself. in some way, shape or form, we will see a variaton of what used to be 'cool.' i don't know about aluminum bookshelf wings or anything, but definatly something we've seen before.
i am seeing drivers wearing spandex, and alot or tropical skittles colored cars. Just kidding. The wierd thing about this is we are the ones that actually make the "trends" its just the magazines the bring it out to those that dont know. The rest of the mindless will follow. if you dont believe me just think of it like this they make altezza style lights for an astro van
I never think I would see "black hood" (or carbon fiber) come back from the 60s, when guys painted their hood flat back to reduce the glare on their street machines. I have seen more guys run without hood, or front bumpers to show off their stuff.
I think the trend will move back to RWD. Why? Everyone got a Honda. It's nothing special anymore. Nothing you do will be something we have not seen down the streeet. Hondas (compact sports) are now way too expensive to mod.
There are lots of used RWD cars out there that's waiting to be mod. Crown Vics, Caprice, not to mention the Camaro & Stangs. The car trend always started with "cheap cars." It worked in the 50s when high schools guys were fixing up used 40s coupes because it was cheap. The same was true for Hondas many many years ago. The trend will cycle back to RWD hotrods.

LED wipers..........hehehe
"RWD hotrods"-------i doubt that. i can see import hotrods but not domestic.
you got to remember where why people are buying is to be different but then again you may be right, history does repeat itself.
i for one, will never buy a domestic car vehicle, i have been in the auto industry for almost 7 years, all i get is nothing but junk crap out of detroit.
and i am sorry to say this, cause i'm an american as well.

the EPA has so much pull in what auto makers introduce into the market that to retrogress to the years of 'gassers' and big block chevys seems a bit unorthodox. this industry is trying very hard to take steps toward a cleaner driving vehicle/environment.
as the years progress we will see an influx of these 'hybrid,' or full electric(or some variation) vehicles
bombard the market with huge incentives to buy that the general public will have no choice but to buy. this is the wave of the future my friend, there are just way, way too many people and cars for this planet to acomodate. that's just SINISTER's .02

my hope for the future?
- people will stop using the word rice to desribe any car they dont personally like
- AutoX will be more wide spread, and just as easy to get to a track as drag
- The industry will realize they have been raping us for too long, and make it affordable

I think its going to be B16 swaps into Yugos. Hell, build a stupid fast car out of something nobody would steal if you left the keys in the ignition.
if i could predict whats next, i would be a millionare.
You're on your own buddy..................
Id rather be a Beeeeeeeeeeeeeellionaire ! !
The trends are nothing but sub-trends. The current trend is all of these folks dolling up their cars in one way or another that aren't really true enthusiasts. One of these days, the posers will be gone, and you won't have to worry about clear taillights or grapefruit shooter muffler "systems." Right now the shituation is embarassing. My girlfriend thinks I'm in the same demographic as the ******* with the 'sporty' compact car that cut her off after blowing by her at 105.

I think that eventually the dumb ****'s will leave the "scene" and get an SUV or something, but with another F&F coming out that is unlikely. It really sucks because I get called rice by all the JDM head's because I have a body kit, but I think that before all the real ricers came out more people would be accepting of my car. So basically the idiots make me look bad!! it needs to stop. Another rant I have is that you cant really have night street races anymore...too many cops. This is a result of all the ricers, which we can blame on F&F. I know some people sont like street racing, but it is fun, there is just something about getting in a race that is illegal that makes it more exciting. And I think that street racing can be safe, that is if everyone there knows what they are doing. But again the ricers **** it all up
I wouldn't want all the dumb people to leave and get SUV's. Pretty soon the world oil supply will be gone. I read it will be gone in something like two years.
What will happen then?
Hopefully not electric cars!
