Default Engine problems 2006 LX

My 2006 Civic is giving me some problems.

First, a water hose continues to pop out from the bottom of the radiator almost once a month. Almost overheating. I have to manually stick it back in and put the clamp back on. What could be the reason?

Second, the engine recently started to idle high and flucuating. The car is shaking. If I drive it there is almost no pick up. I floor it and it slowly picks up speed. Top speed has been 47 miles p/h. Sometimes the RPM goes to 4k before finally shifting. Also there is a slight rotten egg like smell if you stand behind the car. I have the engine light on and blinking with a wrench symbol next to it.

Any idea what these issues could be? Does it look like I need a new or rebuilt engine?

It looks like you need to take it to the dealer...

Honestly, all those problems and you want people on the internet to diagnose it for ya? If it was just a CEL I'd say bring the question here, but it sounds like your car is falling apart.

I can't say that this is ALL of your problems, but the lack of power and rotten egg smell is that your exhaust system in clogged up (maybe due to a bad catalytic converter)..

Good luck..

Rotten egg smel is normally due to a fuel with a high sulfer content or excess fuel delivered to the engine.

As for "The hose popping off and "almost?" leading to overheating"? Is the outlet connector bent or distorted? What type of clamp are you using? A worm gear drive type should get tight enough to prevent any pop off.

Fluctuating idle could be due to air in the cooling system.

Top speed 47mph? Maybe you toasted your head and the blow-by is causing the lower radiator hose to pop off. It seems you've got major engine problems. Get the CEL codes read.

With ANY of those problems, I'd be the first one at the dealer in the morning.
