i have heard that the b20 blocks have thin cylinder walls and definitely need to be sleeved if you are putting boost to it

if you resleeve it you shouldnt have to worry about it blowing... as long as its built correctly you should have good luck.

that i honestly cant say yes or no to.... if you run a smart amount i would say no. i wouldnt put more than a 50 shot on any stock motor.

I was running a b16/b20 turbo for years on stock internals only about 7psi though good for 280whp/200tq.

Just killed a piston this summer...cylinder walls have been fine. I've been told a lot of it depends on the tune. Who can say really though.

what i can tell you is that the b20 has a siamese cast sleeve vs the b18 which has individually cast sleeves.

quick solution: find a sleeved b18a/b with 84mm bore its the same bore and stroke as a b20 and will be stronger.

And if you find a b18a/b sleeved with 84mm bore let me know im in desperate need for one.

Honestly, I cant decide whether to just sleeve my b20 or take a risk on buying a sleeved b18 block

sleeves are a must for boost cuz they have the thinnest walls and if your gonna just go nos your gonna wanna redo your pistons/valves/rods cuz youll burn em up unless you use just a 75 shot.

Yeah, stock is fine, the B20'll hold together much like any other B series engine as long as you're not trying to crank it out to 8000 RPM.

The redline of the B20Z is 6700, keep it below 6500 without putting a ridiculous amount of HP through it and it won't blow.

Yeah, the rods are what makes them weak, I'd say you can push a B20 up to about ~280hp - 300hp no prob on stock internals keeping a 6.5-6.7k redline, obviously more if you change the pistons/rods and sleeve the block.
