Default Lighten 90 crx doors?

I know the 90 crx doors have the reinforcement in there compared to 88 and 89. i took off my door panel and it looks almost impossible to get a grinder in there. anyone have any advice to give me?

i can get a hold of some 88 doors but they dont look like they can fit. plus i dont feel like getting them painted.

So you're not trying to lighten the car, but the thread title is "lighten 90 crx doors"...

Do yourself a favor, don't take away what little protection this car will give you incase of an accident, seriously. Could mean the difference between a bruise or your legs, or even worse, your legs and your life.

pretend i had an 88 crx and had no protection.

theres not a lot of cars where i live and i dont drive my car like an *******. i just want my doors to be lighter when i open them or they close on my legs if im cleaning my car.

bumper supports and air bags dont effect me on a daily basis. im not trying to make my car faster

CRX doors are to heavy for you to open? rofl

just go to toys r' us and buy yourself a power wheels, the doors should be light enough. and the machine more suited for you.

I would leave them. If you want them lightened up gets B-pillar seatbelts and take them out of your doors. That conversion will help reduce the weight in your doors.

He could get custom made fiberglass or carbon fiber doors. I think they run about $600 a side.

Have fun with that expense, don't want to get a boo boo washing the roof.

Learned that one the hard way. I had a crx like that and my car ended up being totalled when i was doing 25mph. I wanted to get rid of that crx anyway and start fresh but not like that. Leaned my lesson and the only thing i took out of the bumpers on my new crx were the styrofoam just because it annoys me when i take my bumber off.

thats not the point,i dont drive like an idiot either however there are other people on the road,,for example the guy that ran a redlight and blindsided me with a f150,,,thank god i was in a buick park ave and not the crx...I would have probably been killed,,but still in 1 piece,,if i had no supports i would have been in 2-3 pieces and the car would have been nothing.

You do realize that isn't plain styrofoam?

It's impact foam to soften the collision.

If you must, do like Toad said and convert it to pillar-mounted belts. That way the doors will be MUCH lighter and still have the added protection (which really isnt all that heavy compared to the two seatbelt rollers).

i had the genious idea to cut the complete framing out of my crx doors and the support and all on my daily driver.. till i got t boned right in my drivers door and now many stitches and a concussion later scars and slices all over my arm remind me to not do that again..

what a weak excuse! just put something between the door and you, so it cant shut.
or why not park in a flat area?

so you would rather everyone tell you to go a head and gut your door which could in the end cost your life? me, i would rather someone tell me the risks of what i planned on doing and if it was dangerous or not. but if your looking to get hurt. go for it

people on the road are idiots..no matter how good of a driver you are, you cant always avoid them

do what you will with your car man. personally the whole getting pillar mounted seat belts is a great idea. and not dumb since 88 crx's and 89 hf's dont have them on the doors.

hey you should be grateful because people are caring about your well being. but to tell you the truth most accidents are caused by stupid people not paying attention or by the stupid owner. so with that being said be careful about your decision.

regardless if you have the support bars or not it will get destroyed enough that your going to have to pay so do what you will. its not like the crx isn't indestructible.

your driver headlight looks like it's pushed back a ways... didn't set up and measure before welding on the rad support eh?

I hate my door mounted belts. They suck ***. It has nothing to do with weight, they just annoy me. What rig do I have to get pillar mounted ones out of? I assume early EF's? Anyone know where I can snag what I need?
