2 questions...maybe 3 or 4
OK so I was thinking engine swap but ended up getting the same engine my 93 del sol S had...I got it for 400 bucks w/100k miles, I put in new water pump, timing belt, ordered some new headman headers, got a new clutch, and am getting a new thermostat and shock absorbers today, the headers are black, my buddy painted the valve cover red and some of the engine black and he sanded down the part that says honda or whatever it says, I must it looks really nice, to the point where I dont think I need an engine swap anymore at least for now, I already have an aftermarket exhaust, and my buddy said he would put 2 inch pipe on the exhaust, I will eventually get an intake, not sure which yet but I digress my 2 questions are:
1. Is there anything else I should get to make sure this baby runs good as new?
2. How much for a good paint job? (the exterior paint is faded and ugly)
3. OK I lied, 3 questions, the engine is the stock 1.5l engine, other than intake headers, and exhaust, that I already have or will have, is there anything I can do that will make this snail move quicker so I dont get roasted by soccer moms?
How much for a turbo? is it a waste for a del sol w/ the 1.5l engine?
Thank you all in advance, this is the most helpful website i've ever been on...

1. Tune up
2. About 5k
3. I didn't know Del slows came with more than one header
. FI is your answer.
4. (even though there is no #4) you should be able to piece together a turbo kit for around $1500 if you shop carefully. Or you can buy one from a company for $3k+.

1. How far down the rabbit hole you wanna go? As a necessity I would say you have it handled... just relace anything that is leaking. The clutch would have been a good tome to replace the rear main seal weather it is leaking or not. But looks like you will be fine.
2. That is a loaded question. You usually get what you pay for unless you know someone. anywhere from $700-2k depending on how nice you want. I would go get some quotes and look at their previous work.
3. Without going into alot more cost no. Swapping out the powerplant is always a good start. But if you cannot afford that simple bolt ons can really help the pep. And as far as outing a turbo on that motor... that is really a matter of preference. A turbo would make it faster yes.... but then again you could go to a different engine and apply the same thing with alot more dramatic results.
Should like you need to think about what YOU want to do with it. Everyone had me excited about turbo... until you get into day to day usage and beatings of need be. I myself chose NA and am not selling odd all my turbo stuff.
One thing I might recommend is weight reduction. If you could sacrifice somethings and get the weight down... the car would perform better all around and put less stress on your drivetrain.

Del Slows??? LOL never heard that...it was slow though, I dont know how much faster it'll be w/the "headers" intake and exhaust but I hope it helps.
What do you mean by FI??? fuel injection? (I'm a noob) what about the fuel injection?

what kind of bolt ons????
I guess a turbo would be out of the question based on price cause if I can get a B18 for the same price as the turbo I guess I would just get the b18, so other than headers intake exhaust what other bolt ons can I get?
How would I reduce weight? there is barley anything inside the car to begin with????
Thanks for the answers.

What kind of bolt ons? That is kinda up to you... obviously there is a large range of parts and many different ways to apply them.
As far as weight... again kinda depends. I know guys that have rear lexan windows...no bumper supports. Del Sols are kinda heavy cause from what I know, the floor boards and doors are built to be stiff.

Wheels
hood
race seats
things you may not sue like AC or anything
bumpers
ect
ect
A good start is to search and see wat others are doing for ideas

I got my EG down to 2160lbs with 170lbs of me in it..... and I have really just gotten started. I still want to remove and replace a few things to get it down further.

But remember... there is not one part to remove to make it count. It is a combination of 5 lbs here and 20 lbs there that make it count

As far as the bolt-on you say there is a long range...can you give me a few examples I'm new to this...all I know is basic basic basic **** like intake headers exhaust, I'd appreciate it, as far as weight reduction, thats something I'll consider bu I like it looking nice inside too though, maybe wheels and hood and trunk I would do.
Thank you.
Thank you.

Thanks.
I'll take pics soon as the engine is in, but the outside is basically a stock faded red del sol s. I will definitely paint and put some rims on it thats why I'm thinking if skipping on turbo or other engine swap for now, I want it to look good and the stock replacement motor is wicked clean.
other than that I got some mean component speakers...any suggestions on rims???

Right now I am rocking Beemer wheels "FREE"... but I have some SIs

Cheap Rotas are always good on the pocket book and weight department

thats not what i said it's cause the engine looks so clean, as in reliable after all the new crap I'm putting in it, it should run really good, I don't race at least not anymore really, so i'd rather keep this engine (1.5l) and get a paint job first, then save on the side for another engine in the future; I'm not rich for christs sake...anyways I will be getting a pathfinder soon and would keep the sol for a little weekend/summer car.
