Default Hawk GT

To continue in my quest for owning semi-rare and/or weird bikes (previous bikes - FZ600, CB-1), I managed to pick up one of these lovely things. Unfortunately for me I won't be able to pick the bike up until the weekend before thanksgiving. boohoo.

I have already started drooling over the lovely parts I want to install. Could I have bought an SV? Sure. But the price was right and I've had a soft spot for these things for quite some time.

pictures...

Underpowered, but handle like a razor. The one pictured is modified... the fz600 is rare?

bike is home. i had planned on taking pictures to document my adventure, but i sort of neglected to do that. oh well. first impressions:

wow, this thing is small! it feels smaller than my CB-1 felt.
the riding position is more agressive on the hawk... although the P/O installed shorter clip-ons and 900rr rearsets
it's nice to have torque

notes from the trip:

uhaul trailers destroy the fuel mileage for a miata. the gate/ramp acts like a giant air-brake.
putting a bike on the trailer actually resulted in better mileage. i guess the bike was punching a hole for the gate to go through. i was surprised that the aero-aid more than compensated for the extra weight of the bike.

and finally...

MAKE SURE THE DAMN TIE-DOWNS ARE GORILLA TIGHT. don't ask me how i found out...

I've always loved those bikes.

There's a guy over on customfighters.com doing a really interesting build on one. If you're interested I'll find the link.

Single sided swingarm... Check

90* V-twin motor... Check

Red Paint... Check

Ducati... Not quite, but at least it runs.

Very nice bike. I want another bike so bad right now. I need variety in my garage (other than dirt-bikes).

man how bad is the sock seat that you want the Monster seat lol
At least get an aftermarket Monster seat. The stock one is not exactly the most comfy seat. No bad, but not great
