What do you pros use? does it really make a difference as long as i use a good filter?

Go 1/2" the bigger the I/D the better. Try to get one thats "anti kink" or at least doesn't kink easy. Also word to wise, do not leave the hose coiled up on the floor when you bake, it will perma-coil on you.

Either or will work. But with the bigger I/D the air flow will be less restrictive.

Inner diameter, when refering to air hose sizes 1/2" or 3/8" the dimention is the I/D of the hose.

Edit: I think 1/2" sounds to big for the I/D, maybe the hoses I use are thicker wall but still 3/8" I/D I could be wrong, I've never measured the I/D when fixing up air lines.

You could also call up an auto paint supply store and ask to speak w/ someone that sets up/ services air line. They would be able to give you the best advice. When I think about I/D's 1/4" and 3/8" seem more like the 2 common air hose sizes, the 3/8" being the bigger one.

also when you're setting up your couplings shoot for some that intercept highflow fittings (and get the fittings for your gun also) it's really really nice to have.
