Default axle problem, leaks, and disconnecting from transmission

I recently installed a pair of rebuilt axles on my ef, and it I have encountered a few problems:

1. It appears to be leaking from the hole where the left axle goes in. I think it can be the seal that goes around the axel and fits on to the transmission. But I am not sure of it quite yet. I have bought a new seal and it looks like its not the right size because it looks a little thicker. It has leaked a good amount of tranny oil for the past 2 days, about 2 quarts i think.

2. The left axle is popping out of the tranny. The first time it happened, we thought it was the seal and its the wrong seal that was making it loose.
The first time I drove it it seemed fine, but as I continued to drive it,and put it into gear, it popped out. We took it out the second time, put the old seal back in and it drove. I only drove it for a block but leater when I put the car into gear and released the clutch and as the car went in motion, it slipped for
a second time... (I tried 3 times today to fix the problem... First was the seal, the next 2 were due to the axle comming loose.)

My main question is, what can cause the axle to disconnect from the transmission? I think it can be the little ring at the end that locks the axle into the tranny, or that we have the wrong seal...

Any input or advice would be helpful, especially if any of you guys have dealt with this problem specifically in the past.
Thanks

Default Re: axle problem, leaks, and disconnecting from transmission (pinks11)

Okay, today I went to the local shop to get my fluid drained and refilled...
I fixed the problem with the axel popping out, it ended up being the ring on the end that goes into the tranny was compressed...
But as we had the car lifted I managed to get a look under the car and caught a glimpse of this:

There seems to be a gap between the transmission and the left axel. I replaced the old seal with a new one, but the guy said that I might have pushed the seal in way too far...

Heres another view of the gap between the left axel and the tranny... I do not know if the seal has to be out to where it meets the inside part of the spine, or if the axel itself is too short... Please help
