Default HONDA SMX B20B VTEC HELP

OK.looking for some help and info, i have a 97 honda smx with the b20b and standard auto transmission.I have a b18c vtec head reading and waiting to fit, but as my car didnt have a vtec in the first place my ecu which is a p8r wont control it.i cant find anything about which ecu i can use and will fit or if it will be ok with the auto tranny.!! Can anyone help??

can you post a few images of your P8R ecu? namely, the ecu plugs.

not unless you have a 4-connector/plug ecu.
THe JDM Auto P72 use a 4-plug ecu connectors as seen here:



If you have a 3 plug ecu, you might need to run a JDM P30 (B16A/SIR) ecu instead.

heres a pic of the plug end of the p8r ecu it has four plugs

i cant see how the p72 would fit as it only has 3 plug spaces as i would have a plug spare??

brilliant, that looks the same as mine then, which car does this come out of then so i know were to look, and one other thing i have thought of, i need to run a cable to the vtec control valve from the ecu, any idea whick terminal it would be

hey cheers for that, do you know what years that may be, as here in the uk auto integs are veryu rare also, is there any others you may know of that will fit? what do you think about the vtec wire i will need from the ecu to my vtec valve, will i find it ok? cheers for all the info to.

ok i have found some on ebay usa site, but unsure as to which is a auto ecu even though they show the code number in the picture, or am i assuming that au means auto box? cheers for the help here.

no it will not fit. Non VTEC B20 and B18A/B manifolds are compatible with each other, but the B18C4 is equivilent to a US B18C1 manifold and is only design for a P72 head.

You can purchase a skunk2 manifold for B18A/B tho if you wish to go with a Type-R style intake manifold...

yes either a JDM B18C from an integra SiR-G (not a JDM B18C Type-R), or from a US B18C GSR engine. Or you can go aftermarket and run the Skunk2 manfold for B18C P72 head.

use any civic ex auto ecu P2T 0BD2 OR THE PO6 EX AUTO

He probably can't because his ecu uses a 4-plug ecu simliar to the jdm AUTO GSR ecu image i posted above.
