the new infinities and luxury cars have that done but i have noticed it turns the plastic brown from the heat of the bulb.

I've heard that HID's give off LESS heat than halogen. I dunno, speculation and heresay. Don't listen to me, but it may be worth looking further into.

Your foglights take an H3 bulb

However, none of the plug + play hid bulbs will fit inside the OEM foglight housing.

Eran, you posted up some lighting information, what do you have to say about the heat given by HID bulbs vs Halogens?

HID's do traditionally put out less heat than your standard halogen bulb. This is because within a HID capsule, electricity is arcing through halide salts to create light. In a halogen, electricity is put through a tungsten filament at a level that it will glow white hot.

Yah. This is really basic and extreme, but ...

Think of a HID bulb as a lightning bolt and a halogen bulb as a piece of hot metal.

They're too big. Is that a hard concept?

The HID capsule rebased onto the H3 base is about three times longer than the standard H3 halogen blub.

There are now actually specific "H3-sized" H3C HID capsules available. I have not seen any results with them yet, but they have a horizontally positioned arc to more closely approximate an H3 halogen bulb, and should fit in almost any H3 housing.

That's new to me.

I don't think any of the normal PnP HID kit retailers carry those. I imagine a few of them do, but not the run of the mill thing.

Wow, that looks god-awful.

I'd hate to live in the same area as you.

Ouch. Color's nice, but you should look into all you can to reduce that glare. You're going to get in trouble if it's as bright as it looks in those pics.

They're actually becoming increasingly common, though I haven't seen any specs on output or rated life.
