Lowered 91 Hatch on 17" wheels
Please, help me....
I lowered my '91 hatch with Eibach Sportsline springs on 17" Motegi rims with low profile tires and it's scraping when I have more than 2 people riding in the car.
What are my options to keep the low profile look and still cary 4 people in the car w/o tire scraping?
1) Is it possible to use the OEM springs on the back and move the Eibach rear springs to the front?
2) Should I get 13" or something smaller than 17" with low profile tires?
3) What about getting later SI blades?
4) Install the OEM springs and keep the 17" Motegi? It won't look as good, but no scrapes?
thanks

theres no need to change the suspention, but it is clear and im sure everyone else will say the same, that 17's are just too big for out little hatches. IMHO i would choose a quality set of 15's.

So you're saying....
I can have 4 peeps in the car w/o tire scraping if my 91 is riding on 15's? Is the 2000 SI blades an example of 15's?

They aren't blades... but yes.

Different offset wheel or a tire that is not as wide will fix that problem.</TD></TR></TABLE>
Not necessarily.
The problem with 17" wheels on a '91 hatchback is that the smallest 17" tire size commonly available, 205/40-17, is too big for the car. Not only is it 30 mm wider than the stock size of 175/70-13, but the outer diameter is 3.6 percent bigger, almost a full inch. For your car, that's huge. It also slows down your acceleration, like getting taller gears for your car.
I recommend getting smaller wheels. You don't have to go all the way down to 13" wheels (and besides, there's very little availability of good street tires in 13" sizes). You can get 14x5.5 wheels with 185/60-14 tires, 15x6 or 15x6.5 wheels with 195/50-15 tires, or 16x7 wheels with 205/40-16 or 195/45-16 tires. Any of these sizes should work, and if the offset is good, they shouldn't rub, even on a lowered car. You can get lots of these size wheels, new or used, aftermarket or Honda/Acura.
