Default Transmission removal, now changed to installing

Okay so Im pulling bolts off on the trannie. It looks like to get it off there are two sections of the tranismission that need to be removed in order for it to fully work. Correct. Im looking at the helms for transmission removal and it is showing me how to take it 100 percent apart. Mabey im looking at the wrong section, but any help greatly appreciated.

you need to take all of the bolts out of the rear mount and take it off, the bolts that go into the trans from the backside of the block, then all of the bolts around the bellhousing, don't forget the starter.

Then there is the little 90* brace on the bottom in front. After that it should pop right off.

No, just unhook the shifter cables. Or do you mean the bracket that holds the cables?...yeah, I think you'll have to unbolt that (can't remember exactly), but it's pretty much just common sense.

I like to just leave the cables in that bracket, and unbolt it.

Now putting it back on. I got it pretty much lined up, the only thing is that the thing that spins the fly wheel, isnt matched up in the grooves. How can I turn the flywheel, to get the spinner in the hole?

You mean the splined shaft coming out of the transmission wont line up with the flywheel?

Did you change the clutch? Use the alignment tool when you did it?

You normally have to just jiggle it to fit, but if the clutch disk isn't lined up with the flywheel right, it won't go in at all...

DELETE YOUR POST.

Once you tighten the pressure plate down you will NOT be able to move the clutch disk around by hand

wow how will the input shaft move the clutch disc when it's torqued down??

the farthest away from procedure that i went, was using a broomstick that somehow fit the flywheel perfectly, and enough electrical tape around it to perfectly match the clutch disc. slight amount of jiggling and the tranny slid right in.

i was doing this at a friends house 90 miles from chicago in the middle of cornfields though, and didn't have the tool lol

Well how bout this. I used a screw driver to jiggle the flywheel while we bolted the trannie into the motor.

Sorry I read my post and I'll delete it. However, what I meant was that you can align it like he said with a screwdriver or whatever and get it close enough. It may take a couple tries but if you get the spline in there with everything torqued down, (the pressure plate) its okay, by "torqued down" in my first post I meant the tranny bolts. Sorry guys

If the tranny is on there torqued and the flywheel still turns with the crank, is the tranny on there right?
