DualCamDan,
Hey, glad you got it back. Were you contacted? How did you get it back? I'm asking because I'm trying to keep my head above waters in terms of my missing car.. it's been like 5 months but our cars were stolen around the same location.

I got a letter in the mail last week sayin my car was in the pound and had been there for almost 30days. i almost wasnt able to get it out. i kept calling the impound lots. I called 311 (from inside the city) prob. about 100 times. they can run your vin and/or plate number and find anything the would be in the system for your car.

What you wrote is a little confussing.
I know about calling the Central Pound/311 to find the status of your vehicle. And it seems like you did that too, but if on the letter they said the car's been impounded for 30days, why didn't you know it was impounded by calling?

Thats the same ? i had for them! They kept telling me it wasnt there and they never imformed the police that they had my stolen car. i got a letter on the 2nd of Nov, dated the 26th of Oct saying that they have had it since the 3rd. i called for weeks, but no one had it. i dont understand it either.

This is the # for the Central Auto Pound:
312-744-7550
From my understanding, they have information on all vehicles that have been pounded in the Chicago area (maybe all of IL). This includes cars that have been pounded by the city as well as privately. This is the # I have been told by the police to call to check their database (which is the main one in Chicago) to see if my car has been found up in a pound someplace.
The reason why I am a little worried about getting my car back is that I moved a few months after my car being stolen and am afraid that I won't be notified via mail since my car's reg. through my old address.

Chicago ******* SUCKS as far as locating stolen cars, i learned the hard way.
After my car got stolen i was driving my truck in the city. One day the city decided to relocate my truck, because of construction, but failed to tell me. I called and called and they had no record of my vehicle.
I started riding my bicycle around and eventually found it about 5 blocks from my apt. with a ticket on it. Stupid city.
