Default screeching noises

when I start my car I can hear some really loud screeching noises. When I drive it gets louder as I step on the gas. But when I drive is for a little bit it goes away...and then comes back. I'm not sure what is the problem...maybe belt? can it be the manual tranny even if it's in neutral when I start the car?

hopefully someone can help me answer this so I can get it fixed!

Thanks!

One of your belts maybe, like p/s, a/c or alternator. They can sometimes squeal.

when you mentioned the tranny, you reminded me of a throwout bearing or input shaft bearing. Does it sound like a laundry machine? Or just a screech? If anything like 97Ej6mike said, it could be your belts!
